Friday Night Crown Check: No. 1 North Crowley Hosts Lake Ridge at Crowley ISD With the District Stage Fully Lit

RF Sports Radio branded title card with football icon: No. 1 North Crowley hosts Lake Ridge Friday night

By Coach Terrence Booker, RF Sports Radio DFW High School Football voice

DFW high school fans, Friday night is here, and the top team in 6A has the lights. North Crowley does not need a reminder about what the crown means. Lake Ridge gets the chance to spoil it on the Panthers' home turf.

The facts

No. 1 Dave Campbell's Texas Football 6A North Crowley (6-0) hosts Mansfield Lake Ridge (4-2) on Friday, Oct. 16, at 7 p.m. at Crowley ISD Multipurpose Stadium, per GoFan and MaxPreps. The game is also listed on the NFHS Network. North Crowley vaulted to No. 1 after a 42-17 win at Waxahachie on Oct. 9/10. Lake Ridge enters on a two-game win streak after beating Skyline 37-18.

Recent series history favors the Panthers: North Crowley won 62-17 in 2025 and 66-7 in 2024, per On3's series notes. On3's Massey projection heavily favored North Crowley in the mid-50s to low teens range; that is a forecast model, not a final score, and tip-off had not happened at research time Friday morning. Treat tonight as a live preview, not a recap.

RF Sports Radio's take (opinion)

My take: being No. 1 in Texas 6A is a target, not a trophy. Every Friday from here on out, the opponent circles the date. Lake Ridge is 4-2 with enough offense to make a quiet first quarter dangerous if North Crowley comes out flat. The Panthers' identity since the Waxahachie statement win has been physical, fast and unfinished business on both sides of the ball.

I am not buying a sleepy home date just because the last two meetings were blowouts. High school football resets every Friday. What I want to see is whether North Crowley's defensive front sets the same tone it did against Waxahachie, and whether Lake Ridge can force the Panthers into long, uncomfortable drives. Crowns get heavy when the band is loud and the visitor has nothing to lose.

My call: North Crowley wins by multiple scores and stays unbeaten, but Lake Ridge finds the end zone enough to keep the third quarter honest. That is a prediction, not a report — and it will be graded after the final whistle tonight, not before.

What to watch next

Kickoff is tonight at 7 p.m. at Crowley ISD Multipurpose Stadium. Watch the first-quarter tempo, turnover margin, and whether North Crowley puts the game away before the fourth. For yesterday's Friday-at-Crowley preview setup, read yesterday's DFW HS post setting up Friday at Crowley ISD Multipurpose Stadium, and follow the DFW High School Football page.

Radio question: does No. 1 North Crowley stay undefeated tonight, or is Lake Ridge the trap game that flips the DCTF board?
