Just a day after the Chargers’ heart-breaking loss in Denver, former Chargers offensive coordinator Ken Whisenhunt was hired as the Tennessee Titans’ head coach. Whisenhunt turned a sluggish Charger offensive into one of the best offenses in the league. He was considered a front runner in Detroit, but the Titans took him right out of the Lions’ hands.

In the first half, it was an offensive struggle. Rivers only had five completions for 20 yards. Also, Ryan Mathews only put up 26 yards in the first half. The Chargers had a big goose egg on the scoreboard. On the other Hand, Denver looked very good early. Manning threw for 100 yards and two touchdowns. Both Ball and Moreno had 40 yards rushing. At half Denver looked to be much in control, up 14-0.

This Monday Night Football game will mark the debut of the 2012 #1 pick Andrew Luck to the historic platform. It will also be the debut of both head coaches head-to-head. The Indianapolis Colts take the trip out west to face the San Diego Chargers with an impressive 4-1 record. The Chargers started out well behind the play of a resurgent Phillip Rivers, but ran into some obstacles last week against their division rival Oakland Raiders.

Poll Question: Should Andy Reid and Norv Turner both be fired?

Of all the turnover this week in the NFL coaching ranks two individuals who always seem to be on the hot seat have been able to keep their jobs.

If you look at all the talent Andy Reid and Norv Turner have had over their coaching terms with their teams, how can you keep these guys around? Look at the talent that both have wasted...

Andy Reid: Donovan McNabb, Terrell Owens, Hugh Douglass, Jeremiah Trotter, Brian Dawkins, Desean Jackson, Mike Vick, Shady McCoy, Duce Staley, and more that escape my mind right now.

Norv Turner's list may be worse: L. T., Philip Rivers, Drew Brees, Junior Seau, Antonio Gates, Vincent Jackson, Quentin Jammer, Darren Sproles, and more I can't seem to think of. Throw in the fact that Marty Schottenhemier was fired after going 14-2 and he had the #1 ranked offense/defense and did not make the playoffs!!!

Cowboys still searching for defensive coordinator; Pasqualoni hired by UCONN and Manusky courted by Chargers

Jason Garrett's search for a new defensive coordinator is getting harder. After interviewing 49ers DC Greg Manusky, he meets with the upper brass of the San Diego Chargers. Many people assume that this will be a more attractive position with the volatility of Norv Turner as a head coach. Garrett is locked up for the next four years as head coach, or at least three in Jerry terms.

Interim defensive coordinator Paul Pasqualoni was announced as the new head coach for Big East winner UCONN. You can read Jason Garrett's and Jerry Jones' comments here.

This will be the first big decision for the new head coach and the most important one. The defense took a big decline from last season, even getting its architect fired in the process. The personnel needs changes and even scheme changes may be in order.
