What's Next for RGIII

What's next for RGIII? Will Dallas take a chance on him?

What`s next for RGIII?

by Da`Vince “Dino” Wright

He went from Baylor University standout quarterback to Heisman winner and 2012 NFL`s Rookie of The Year to a good quarterback looking for a team. How did this awesome athlete fall from grace? Lets take an in depth look at what`s next for RGIII.

I would say any other athlete in the world would be in the media ripping his head coach. So, since he won`t I will. RG3 performed at a high level for a team that has never had a line to block for him. He spent more time running for his life than running plays. He broke his leg in a game a played until he couldn`t go on it anymore. He suffered a concussion in a preseason game and in come Kirk Cousins and he played the rest of the year. Ow could this organization turn their backs on the franchise. In this article we would look at the teams and the numbers on RG3. I`m not a Redskins fan at all, but fair is fair. It`s sad to see how he was treated and mark my words he will be back!

Technically they Redskins has him under contract for the 2016 season because they exercised a $16.155 million fifth-year option on him.March 9th he will receive the bulk of the contract because his last season was injury ridden. Now on the 7th of February the Redskins will release him and try to retain the majority of the 16 million owed to him.

Potential Destinations

Houston Texans
Brian Hoyer proved that he`s way to shaky to carry a team will talented players. I would say that this will be a great fit. Houston will pick 22nd in this years draft looking for a quarterback. But signing RG3 will give them a defensive pick.

St. Louis Rams
They have the 15th pick in the draft. Jeff Fisher is on the hot seat and need production at the QB spot. On the other hand, Jeff Fisher had a bad falling out with Vince Young another running quarterback.

Dallas Cowboys
Backing up Tony Romo who is under contract until 2019. He will get some playing time because Romo will get hurt. I would love to see him under center leading a dynamic offense with a proven line.

Other team interested are: New Orleans Saints, Arizona Cardinals and Kansas City Chiefs.

winless season. Photo credit NFL

We are in week 3 of the young NFL season and eight teams have started out 0-2. Two teams were in the playoffs just last season, while others are perennial division favorites that find themselves rebuilding or nursing some critical injuries on their roster. Then again, some of the teams are just that bad.

1. Washington Redskins - You could make the argument that their first two games was an extended preseason, since their best player RGIII has only played in two games back from surgery. The have been blown out the first half of both games, but seem to be able to put up points in the second half.

NFL: NFC East Week 1 Reaction- Chip Kelly's Arrival

NFC East:
Cognizant that 10-11 wins carries the 'NFC Beast', preseason prognostications ranged. Consensus varied from the Redskins repeating, Giants rebounding, to 'America's Team' reemerging. What nobody believed was the mystery of Chip Kelly's arrival in Philadelphia with holdover Michael Vick would be a resounding success. The Eagles Monday Night Football performance, in particular the first half, has put the league on notice.

Two years into a 5 Year $ 35 Million deal, Mike Shanahan's Redskins accumulated 11 Wins & 21 Losses. At 2011's conclusion, fans were frustrated, and many lobbied for Owner Daniel Snyder to cut the cord. Exercising restraint, Shanahan was retained into year 3 of the seismic rebuild.

Shanahan consummated a trade, moving from 6th to 2nd overall in the 2012 Draft to select Robert Griffin III.

NFL: 2014 NFC East Offseason Question Marks- Players to Keep an Eye On

by Chad Jones

Over the past 2 NFL Seasons, the salary cap has been relatively flat at 123 Million. Teams are anxiously awaiting the kick-in of new television money in 2015, which will allow the cap to rise significantly over the remainder of the current CBA. Let's take a look at NFC East Cap concerns for 2014.

NFL Wildcard Weekend Recap...Or something like that

Texans over Bengals 19-13

Matt Schaub gets his first post-season win, but let's be honest...the Texans don't look that good. Yes, they won the game, but I don't think the Patriots have anything to worry about.

Packers over Vikings 24-10

Am I the only sports fan that didn't want to watch the game after hearing Christian Ponder was not going to play. Watching Joe Webb throws balls in the dirt was the total opposite of watching Aaron Rodgers play. I can only imagine what Minnesota people are thinking...maybe, "How hurt was Ponder?"

Ravens over Colts 24-9

Andrew Luck will be a great quarterback in the NFL for a long time, but like most QBs he needs that loss in the playoffs on his record that drives him to seek revenge against the league. This was that lost. It was almost tearful watching Ray Lewis do his last introduction dance in front of the home crowd. Unfortuantely, I think their road ends in Denver next week.

Seahawks over Redskins 24-14

Falcon be very afraid of your bird cousin from the great northwest. The Seahawks look like the toughest team in the NFC after coming from 14 down and dominating 3 solid quarters of football. RG III looked hurt right after the his second TD throw. Makes you wonder what would have happened if Kirk Cousins came in earlier in the game. I also wonder if Russell Wilson told Griffin after the game if, "this game means nothing"

Don't miss tomorrow morning's show at 8:30am CST right here...

There is no QB controversy in DC

The Washington Redskins selected with the 2nd pick in the 2012 NFL Draft the new face of the franchise Robert Griffin III. Then in the 4th round selected with the 102nd pick in the draft QB Kirk Cousins. This immediately drew the backlash of NFL analysts and scouts alike. Why would you want to bring in another rookie QB? Why start a QB controversy?

There is no controversy. Period. If Robert Griffin III can not outplay Kirk Cousins then he deserves not to be the starter. The QB position in the NFL is the most important position in sports. Nobody should blame Mike Shanahan for drafting Cousins to be an understudy for his offense. The Redskins have tried the veteran route for years with no success. Now they will the luxury of grooming a top QB prospect in their own offensive scheme. Just look at what teams like Green Bay and New England have done with Aaron Rodgers, Matt Flynn, Matt Cassel, and Ryan Mallett. This is good business for any franchise.

Cowboys and Redskins take a huge hit before free agency tomorrow

Somehow...salary moves made by both the Dallas Cowboys and Washington Redskins during the 2010 uncapped year will cost them millions. The Cowboys will lose $10 million and the Redskins will get dinged for $36 million. Jerry Jones and Daniel Snyder decided to front load a few contracts to take advantage of the uncapped year, but other owners feel that this caused an unfair advantage. Fans of both teams beg to differ.

This will affect the Redskins the most since they have given up their draft for 3 years to acquire this year's number 2 pick, RGIII. This will make it tougher to build around him rather through the draft or free agency...
