Tailgate State: Top 25 College Football Rankings Week 1

Image
Ohio State will try to repeat. Photo credit: Kevin C. Cox/Getty Images As the Dog Days of Summer come to a close, I think back on how many “Adult” Snow Cones I  consumed weekly after work. The 4th of a July Fireworks and BackYard BBQs that distracted  Me from the important stuff of Life. The things that matter, like spending all Saturday on the  couch. Curled up with a laptop, She lounges in Her Longhorns Jersey and sweats, vegging out  to all the games across the nation. It is officially College Football season this Thursday!!!  by  +Omie D   Last season finished out with a Boom! The College Playoff system netted Us a True Champion  during its introduction to the World. Some teams still were left on the outside looking in at the 4  team party. Leaving plenty of debates for guys like Me, hanging on to the ESPNU reruns. The  overall results saw The Top 2 teams out in the 1st round and the True UnderDog became a  Champion. This...

New DeSoto coach Todd Peterman says they have had a great week of practice since the loss. Players seem to be more engaged than ever and will need that fire for their home opener this Saturday. IMG's offense is led by QB Shea Patterson, a Mississippi recruit and ranked at the top of most quartback lists. He threw three touchdowns in the first half and did not play in the...

SWAC: 2015 Texas Southern Tigers Football Preview

Image
Courtesy SWAC.org Courtesy: SWAC.org View Photo 2015 Football Preview: Texas Southern Courtesy SWAC.org Sun, August 30, 2015 Bringing back a veteran squad, Texas Southern plans to better last year's 5-6, 3-6 mark. A late-season collapse denied the Tigers their first winning season since 2010. Standing 5-1 at midseason, TSU closed out the campaign with five consecutive losses, including a 38-37 home heartbreaker to Arkansas Pine Bluff. Despite the disappointing finish, the Tigers showed signs of recovering from academic sanctions with the three-victory improvement. Texas Southern's hopes of climbing in the SWAC standings will hinge on its offense. While the defense was solid in 2014, the Tigers ranked seventh in the league in scoring (26 points per game) and ninth in total offense (360 yards per game) and passing (188.5 ypg). In fairness, the offense made considerable progress after averaging an anemic 15.7 ppg, ranking 115th out of 1...

Tony Romo celebrates one of this two touchdown passes in 28-14 loss to Minnesota in third preseason game. Photo credit: Tony Gutierrez/AP It was hard to get gauge on the quarterback for the Dallas Cowboys after only seeing him take three snaps in the preseason. In their third straight preseason loss to the Minnesota Vikings, Tony Romo was the bright star we all hoped to see. The Dallas Cowboys did lose a third preseason game to the Minnesota Vikings 28-14. Romo was 5-8 for 88-yards withh 2 touchdowns. He finished with quarterback rating of 139.6. The second TD was the most impressive. He dodged pressure to find Lucky Whitehead for a 8-yard strike. Darren McFadden had a much better outing than the previous game, averaging 9.2-yards per carry instead of 3.4. Terrence Williams had the other Cowboy touchdown. Dez Bryant was held out again due to his hamstring, but indicated he will be ready for the regular season. The Cowboys will play their last preseason game against the...
