Schottenheimer said he worked with Pettine for years with the Jets, and that Parker and Pettine overlapped in Green Bay. Pettine most recently helped Brian Flores in Minnesota, had stepped away from coaching, and was described as coming in after time in Italy. The next game is bigger than the bye: the Cowboys visit Green Bay on Sunday, Oct. 18, at 7:20 p.m. Central on NBC for Sunday Night Football at Lambeau Field. ESPN's Todd Archer called Week 5 a disaster for everybody in the NFC East, and the scoreboard backs him up. Philadelphia lost 19-17 to Jacksonville in London when Cam Little hit a 57-yard field goal on the final play, one snap after Ameer Abdullah's 53-yard kickoff return, per ESPN's recap. That's three straight losses for the Eagles, who fell to 2-3. In Landover, the Giants and Commanders tied 27-27 after Washington ran out of time in field-goal range in overtime, per CBS Sports and the AP. Cowboys Nation, three days after the Tampa Bay loss, the questions at The Star have moved from the injury report to the people calling the plays. Start with the defense. After Thursday's 24-16 loss, Jerry Jones was asked whether first-year defensive coordinator Christian Parker's job was in danger. "Premature," he said, per ProFootballTalk. Asked if he still had confidence in Parker, Jones said, "I do. Yes, I do. He's sitting there taking it on the shoulders, which goes with the territory, but I feel that he's competent." He again pointed to the run defense: "The thing that probably bothers me the most tonight is how they ran between the tackles." CeeDee Lamb, who was in and out of the game on the final drive, has a bruised quadriceps . Left tackle Tyler Guyton's back X-rays were negative after he sat out the last offensive series, with Broderick Jones filling in. Joey Porter Jr., who arrived at AT&T Stadium sick and was made inactive, is feeling better. The one real concern is safety Alijah Clark, who has a hamstring issue and is day-to-day. That matters because P.J. Locke and Jalen Thompson are already on injured reserve. The calendar helps. The new Hall of Fame owner of the richest sports franchise in the world was not always "Mr. Dallas Cowboys". In 1966, after graduating from the University of Arkansas, Jones made a bid to buy the San Diego Chargers for $5.8 million. The team is now #21 on the Forbes NFL list with a valuation just over $2 billion with a "B". Jones had promises from investors in Missouri to secure the deal with AFL team, but his dad Pat Jones told him not to do it. At the end of the first week of Dallas Cowboys training camp, things seem to have started where they left off at the quarterback position. Tony Romo is not on the field.
