Peyton Manning`s Place in History by Da`Vince “Dino” Wright Peyton Manning is one of the most intriguing quarterbacks to ever play the game. He`s not flashy, fast or cocky. He`s just a flat out winner!  The football Gods have ordained him a champion, a leader, and a four-time MVP. One might say that he is one of the smartest quarterbacks to play the game. Manning's key to success is the bond he has with his receivers. Every off season he, along with his receivers and tight ends, work out with the play book and develop hand signals. Defenses are too busy listening to “Omaha Omaha Omaha” at the line to every pay attention. The hand signals directs the receivers to certain spots on the field. This is one of the main reasons why Peyton has a spot in history.  Let`s take a look at his accolades and records Peyton obtained in his 18 year career. He`s a 4 time NFL MVP and hes the record holder of many records for quarterbacks. Cam Newton on the other hand is the young brash undisputed leader of the new wave of NFL QB`s that`s taking over the league. What's next for Peyton Mannin? Photo credit Fox Sports  by Brad Barrett  After a record breaking season, a fifth MVP, and a trip to the Super Bowl, Peyton Manning could be walking out of the game. As we saw on Sunday, Manning couldn't get the job done in the 48th Super Bowl. The leagues’ best defense held one of the best offenses of all time to only eight points. To me that sounds pretty embarrassing, but to Peyton Manning, not so much.

The Super Bowl. It might be a bit chilly, a little snow may fall, but in the end who really cares? THIS IS SHOWTIME!

Peyton Manning vs Tom Brady. Photo credit NFL.  by Brad Barrett It’s what we’ve been waiting for. Brady vs. Manning.  This will be the fifteenth time these two future Hall of Famers will face off. Brady has won 10 match ups, while Manning has only won four.

Rivers only had five completions for 20 yards. Also, Ryan Mathews only put up 26 yards in the first half. The Chargers had a big goose egg on the scoreboard. On the other Hand, Denver looked very good early. Manning threw for 100 yards and two touchdowns. Both Ball and Moreno had 40 yards rushing. At half Denver looked to be much in control, up 14-0.

​ Is Peyton Manning all you need? Two years ago, Denver had its season end in a  45-10 beat down at Foxboro, Massachusetts and Denver entered the offseason with the much-maligned Tim Tebow as their starting quarterback.  However, after a very intense courting period, Denver’s Executive VP of Football Operations, John Elway, announced that Denver would be bringing in free agent Peyton Manning , signaling in a new era in Denver .   Manning rewarded Elway, and the fans, with one of his best seasons ever, passing for over 4600 yards and 37 touchdowns, leading the Broncos to the  playoffs where they lost to Baltimore .  Though last season did not end as planned, the Broncos , and their fans, have plenty reason for optimism this season. After a workout with coach Jim Harbaugh, the San Francisco 49ers sign Randy Moss to a 1 year deal. Jury is still out if Moss can push the 49ers over the top.  Seems ironic that T.O. is playing indoor ball and Moss is now with his former team. Could this push Peyton to sign with the 49ers? 51-year-old defensive coordinator Chuck Pagano becomes the new head coach for the Indianapolis Colts. Pagano was the defensive coordinator for the Baltimore Ravens for only 1 year. He becomes the 4th Ravens defensive coordinator to get a head coaching gig after Rex Ryan, Marvin Lewis, and Mike Nolan. No doubt the Colts job is a huge step up for the longtime NFL assistant, but the management team is on the verge of the biggest personnel decision in history. Owner Jim Irsay has been full of surprises during the off season and hiring a defensive coach now adds to the speculation that Peyton's days are numbered. Coach Pagano may define his head coaching legacy by March 8th.

After going 26-22 in two seasons, new GM Ryan Grigson has decided to let Jim Caldwell go after leading the Peyton-less Colts to a 2-14 season. Owner Jim Irsay has been busy remaking the Colts. Since the end of the season, he has parted ways with the Polians' whom are friends with Manning and Caldwell who was Manning's QB coach for his 4 MVP years. Irsay and Grigson understand that the talent pool for coaches is rich, but timing will be critical. The Rams were able to sign Jeff Fisher away from the Dolphins after Miami decided to keep Jeff Ireland as GM. Fisher wanted full control. Tony Dungy in all likelihood would not be an option since he is friends with Bill Polian, Jim Caldwell, and Peyton Manning. Hard to see him replacing friends. The firing of Caldwell makes the vacancy the most attractive coaching option available. The new coach will have his choice of Peyton Manning and a #1 pick in the upcoming draft. As we talked about on last nights show, Peyton Manning will likely miss the entire season. Reports are surfacing today that he had additional neck surgery today that will prolong the rehab process.
