The Broncos came out of the gate red hot on both sides of the ball but had to hold on and fend off an Andrew Luck comeback effort as Denver hung on to win 31-24 over Indianapolis at Mile High stadium.

Peyton Manning and the Broncos offense were nearly flawless in the first half as they raced out to a 24-0 lead.  That lead was built in large part to the dynamic duo of Manning and his TE Julius Thomas, who caught three TD passes in that first half. Denver also got good mileage out of their running game thanks to Montee Ball who was able to penetrate and make some solid runs to keep the Broncos balanced on offense. They had the look of  a well oiled machine that would not be stopped all game long.

The Colts, looked as though they were going to be blown out after a lack luster first half that featured little production from Trent Richardson and the run game, offensive line that could not hold up against the Denver defensive line and a quarterback in Luck who was not his sharpest throwing the ball in that opening half. The start of the second half did not look promising as Indianapolis blew two golden opportunities to get back into the game, but only managed to get three points out of those two drives that they marched inside the Denver 10 yard line.

To there credit, the Colts hung tough and started to build their comeback as they were able to finally finish off some sharp looking drives with touchdowns. The special teams also played a big part of their comeback attempt as punter Pat McAfee executed an onside kick that gave his team the ball back and they promptly marched down and scored another TD.

Broncos would need a pass break up by Bradley Roby to seal the win for Denver and extinguish any Colts idea of a tie game.
