Photo credit Miami Heat  The Miami Heat will start the new NBA season with the chance to place themselves among the best-of-the-best squads every assembled to play the game of basketball. Not since the Los Angeles Lakers of 2009-10 has a team been in position to three-peat as champions. With all the roster movement in the Eastern Conference, and the return of MVP caliber players, can the Miami Heat win three in a row?

Photo credit Adidas by Rodney Fisher Everyone knows how much of a basketball fan I am and I know it may be only the second game of the preseason, but watching this game only made me more anxious for the 2012-13 season to start. The Indiana Pacers challenged the Miami Heat for the Eastern Conference, while the Chicago Bulls minus Derrick Rose could not overcome injuries and illness. Like that one song, by that one guy, times are changing.

Miami Heat advance to Eastern Conference Finals The Chicago Bulls did not go without a fight. They overcame an 18 point defecit in the first half to go into halftime ahead 53-47. The Miami Heat would return to form to beat the Bulls and officially end there season 94-91.

Tonight the 7-3 Mavs take on the 6-4 Chicago Bulls. The Mavs are trying to bounce back from a tough loss to the New Orleans Hornets Wednesday night. The have played the Bulls twice in the preseason and won both. Guarding the point guard doesn't get any easier tonight with Derrick Rose in town. During the pre-game press conference Coach Carlisle mentioned his "electric presence on the court" and how his "skill level keeps moving up". Coach also talked about Joakim Noah and his ability to get clean-up points off offensive rebounds. Tyson Chandler and Derrick Rose were teammates this summer during the FIBA World Championships winning gold. This will be the Mavs first nationally televised game of this season and you can tell. ESPN has cameras everywhere from catching the players exiting vehicles to with us in the press box.
