RFSN had their weekly sit down Coach Mathis to discuss the matchup against Euless Trinity and also their win over Jenks.

We caught up with Coach Mathis of the Desoto Eagles after their impressive win over Arlington Martin 34-17. He talked bout the new district, upcoming game against Jenks, and the focus going into this season. Interview: Rodney Fisher and Coach Claude Mathis, Desoto High School Rodney Fisher: Alright coach, good to see you again of course. Get ready for the good season. Let me ask you first of all about the new district. Umm…A little bit different than what you guys had last season. Now you got a lot of city rivalries, player rivalries, and it’s a really big team, Cedar Hill, South Grand Prairie, Mansfield, Timberview. You think this new district really helps you guys out as far as keeping it high ranking and playing more competitive teams? Coach Claude Mathis: Well I think it helps us financially first of all… Rodney Fisher: Okay, yeah Coach Claude Mathis: So, we ain’t gotta travel to East Texas so much, and try to help…uhh…the district out with the budget. Ft Worth Star Telegram reported that Jason Garrett will be the head coach next year. Not true. Owner Jerry Jones commented today that despite reports nobody has been hired as the head coach for next season. He went on to add that everyone will be under evaluation in today's game against division opponent and Vick-less Eagles.   Based on our intel, this is still any one's job. Garrett at best will end the season with a 5-3 record. This is not good enough in Jerry's eyes. If he loses this game, a 4-4 record will put all chances of Garrett coaching in Dallas to zero.

"The win streak is not significant at all...we got to be getting better", commented Coach Carlisle as the Mavs try to extend their league best win streak to 12-0. Tonight will not be as easy as Thursday against the New Jersey Nets. This will be the Mavs second game against the Jazz in 10 days; beating them on the road the first time. Carlisle expressed how hard it has been for his team to win back-to-back games against winning teams; i.e. Denver and New Orleans as teams they lost to the second time.   The longest tenured coach in the NBA Jerry Sloan is no dummy. When Royce asked him what will the Jazz have to do to win this game he simply said, "make shots". Even Coach Carlisle said that they have to be ready for Deron Williams and guard him without fouling. Deron, the pride of the Colony, comes back home averaging a double-double with 22pts and 10 assists. His style of play could really hurt the Mavs if he gets the bigs in foul trouble early.   Will the Jaz...
