Allen Locks Up the No. 1 Seed, North Crowley Is 9-0, and Hebron Still Has Work: The DFW Playoff Picture After Week 10

RF Sports Radio branded title card with generic football icon: DFW high school football playoff picture after Week 10

By Coach Terrence Booker, RF Sports Radio DFW high school voice

Sunday morning, North Texas. Week 10 is in the books, the film is getting broken down, and the playoff bracket is starting to take shape. Some programs spent Friday night clinching. Others spent it surviving. A few are still doing math.

The facts

Allen clinched the District 6-6A title and the No. 1 Division I seed with its 56-14 win at McKinney Boyd, per HS Football Nation. North Crowley clinched the District 11-6A title Thursday with a 72-10 win over Mansfield and is 9-0, per HS Football Nation, which projects the Eagles into Division II.

Waxahachie won 34-0 at Crowley and Duncanville beat Mansfield Lake Ridge 35-16, results HS Football Nation lists as securing playoff berths. In Denton County, the Denton Record-Chronicle reports Aubrey clinched its first district title since 2023 and Lake Dallas secured a playoff berth.

Some races go to the final week. The Record-Chronicle reports Denton Braswell can clinch with a win over Hebron or a Flower Mound loss, and Krum can lock up at least the No. 2 seed with a win over Ponder on Nov. 6. Hebron is coming off a 42-41 escape against Flower Mound on Friday, per Inside High School Sports DFW.

Friday's other headliners, per Inside High School Sports DFW, included unranked McKinney's 35-34 upset of 6A No. 16 Jesuit, Prosper's 52-10 win over Prosper Walnut Grove and Keller Central's 80-49 win over Keller. Saturday's late finals on the Star-Telegram scoreboard included Fort Worth Eastern Hills 49, Diamond Hill-Jarvis 8 and Arlington Grace Prep 34, McKinney Christian 29.

RF Sports Radio's take (opinion)

My take: Allen and North Crowley are on a collision course in everybody's head, but they are not in the same division, and that is the best part. It means two different brackets with a true favorite at the top of each. Somebody has to knock them off, and I do not see who yet.

The team I am watching this week is Hebron. Winning a one-point game is great for a resume. Giving up 41 points and then walking into a week where Braswell can clinch at your expense is not. That defense has six days to find answers.

And give Aubrey its flowers. A district title after a couple of years away is the kind of thing a small town remembers for a long time. Those are the stories that make this sport special.

Last thing: this is the week seeding gets settled and coaches start sleeping on the office couch. Every rep this week counts double.
