Rangers' Toughest Winter Call: Is It Time to Move Corey Seager?

RF Sports Radio branded title card with Rangers logo: Corey Seager contract is the Rangers' toughest offseason decision

Rangers fans, this is the conversation nobody in Arlington wanted to have two years ago.

SI's Matthew Nethercott argues the toughest contract decision Texas faces this winter is Corey Seager's — a player still under team control. Seager hit .227 with 20 home runs and a .736 OPS in 2026, and Nethercott writes that he will cost the Rangers $31 million in each of the next five seasons. Seager also now has 10-and-5 rights, meaning he can veto any trade.

Nethercott's pitch is a Giancarlo Stanton-style deal where Texas takes money back to land real talent, while conceding the Rangers don't absolutely need to move him and that he remains a strong defender and power threat. It fits Chris Young's message after an 80-81 season: "nothing is off the table," though Young also said the club needs to "re-shuffle our cards," not rebuild, per Yahoo Sports.

This is analysis, not a reported trade — stay with the Texas Rangers all offseason. Radio question — keep Seager at short, or sell while he still has value?
