NBA Preseason Tips Saturday; Jokic Likes New-Look Nuggets Camp

-

League-wide, the dress rehearsals are two days out — and Boulder already has a quote of the week.

NBA preseason tips Saturday, Oct. 3, opening with Miami at Toronto in Quebec City before a run of exhibitions through mid-October. In camp news that matters for the West board, Nikola Jokic said after Tuesday’s Nuggets work that the starting unit feels like “second nature” while the new pieces are “going to be good.” Denver is grinding at CU Boulder altitude with DeMar DeRozan and other additions adapting, then opens its preseason Sunday against Utah at the CU Events Center.

For a DFW desk, that clock also means Macao-bound Mavericks are deep into Dusty May’s combinations while the rest of the league races toward real minutes. Opening Night follows later in October.

I think they bring out buried feelings of joy and happiness in people that don’t often get to see the light of day anymore. Folks are happier, kids are giddier, and teens are pressing their folks for gifts, even on Mother’s and Father’s Day. But my favorite holiday of them all is Halloween. And it has absolutely nothing to do with costumes and or candy but rather the date on the calendar it represents. October 31st signifies the start of the basketball regular season! Either your team has one game under it's belt, or is preparing for game one or is glorifying a local television broadcast with fun Halloween graphics heading into and out of commercials. The 2013-2014 NBA season kicks off two days in advance of trick-or-treating with national broadcasts coming on October 29th put October in the rearview and gear up for the season ahead. Lamar Odom: Flesh and Blood

Image
by Matt Silverston Say what you want about Lamar Odom, and go ahead and criticize his lifestyle and the choices he's made, but I will never hesitate to stand up for those human beings who suffer from addiction and mental illness. Given that Odom's story as well as his whereabouts are uncertain and up-in-the-air at this time, the biggest issue at stake here is so much more than money, a reality TV drama, or a basketball hoop. His future livelihood as a healthy, spirited human being is under attack and in immediate jeopardy.
