Wings Face Must-Win Game 2 vs Valkyries Wednesday in Arlington

-

Arlington, this is win-or-go-home energy on a Wednesday night.

The Dallas Wings trail their best-of-three first-round series 0-1 after Golden State’s 104-80 Game 1 win at Chase Center. The damage report is familiar: a WNBA-postseason-record 37-11 second quarter, Valkyries 18-of-36 from three, and another chapter in a season-long Golden State hex (4-0 vs. Dallas in 2026). Coach José Fernández said the second-quarter pattern mirrored the regular-season losses.

Paige Bueckers was brilliant individually (21 points on 9-of-10 in Game 1 per prior reports), but Dallas needs five on a string — ball security, keep drives in front, and guard the arc. Fernández said the club would take Monday off, watch film, and gear up.

Game 2: Wednesday, Sept. 30, 8 p.m. CT at College Park Center, ESPN. Lose and the season ends. Win and it’s Game 3 Friday back in San Francisco. The Dallas Wings (https://rfsportsradio.blogspot.com/search/label/Dallas%20Wings) closed the regular season on a tear to grab the seven seed — time to cash that home crowd.

I think they bring out buried feelings of joy and happiness in people that don’t often get to see the light of day anymore. Folks are happier, kids are giddier, and teens are pressing their folks for gifts, even on Mother’s and Father’s Day. But my favorite holiday of them all is Halloween. And it has absolutely nothing to do with costumes and or candy but rather the date on the calendar it represents. October 31st signifies the start of the basketball regular season! Either your team has one game under it's belt, or is preparing for game one or is glorifying a local television broadcast with fun Halloween graphics heading into and out of commercials. The 2013-2014 NBA season kicks off two days in advance of trick-or-treating with national broadcasts coming on October 29th put October in the rearview and gear up for the season ahead.
