RF Sports Radio branded title card: No. 21 SMU third-down defense hosts Boston College at Ford Stadium

illtop radio check — forget the sloppy tape for a second. Look at third down.

Per SMU’s official notes ahead of Saturday, the Mustang defense has held opponents to 11-of-54 (.204) on third down — best in the ACC and No. 2 nationally. Pair that with an offense that has cleared 479 yards in every game and a quarterback, Kevin Jennings, who just became the school’s all-time leader in passing yards, touchdowns responsible for, and completions, and you’ve got a nationally televised ACC home date with real teeth.

No. 21 / No. 19 SMU (3-1, 1-1 ACC) hosts Boston College (2-2, 0-1 ACC) Saturday, Oct. 3 at 11 a.m. CT at Ford Stadium on The CW. The Eagles are coming off a 21-14 loss to Virginia Tech. Series edge sits with SMU at 3-1, including last year’s 45-13 win in Chestnut Hill.

For SMU Football (https://rfsportsradio.blogspot.com/search/label/SMU%20Football), the radio question: can the third-down unit stay elite while Jennings keeps the fireworks on without the turnover hangover?

by Ace Feltman 2013-14 NBA Western Conference Preview. Photo credit NBA I love Holidays. I think they bring out buried feelings of joy and happiness in people that don’t often get to see the light of day anymore. Folks are happier, kids are giddier, and teens are pressing their folks for gifts, even on Mother’s and Father’s Day. But my favorite holiday of them all is Halloween. And it has absolutely nothing to do with costumes and or candy but rather the date on the calendar it represents. October 31st signifies the start of the basketball regular season! Either your team has one game under it's belt, or is preparing for game one or is glorifying a local television broadcast with fun Halloween graphics heading into and out of commercials. The 2013-2014 NBA season kicks off two days in advance of trick-or-treating with national broadcasts coming on October 29th put October in the rearview and gear up for the season ahead. Lamar Odom: Flesh and Blood

Image
by Matt Silverston Say what you want about Lamar Odom, and go ahead and criticize his lifestyle and the choices he's made, but I will never hesitate to stand up for those human beings who suffer from addiction and mental illness. Given that Odom's story as well as his whereabouts are uncertain and up-in-the-air at this time, the biggest issue at stake here is so much more than money, a reality TV drama, or a basketball hoop. His future livelihood as a healthy, spirited human being is under attack and in immediate jeopardy.
