S.C. State defeat Arkansas-Pine Bluff in MEAC/SWAC Challenge

ORLANDO, Fla.—South Carolina State defeated Arkansas-Pine Bluff 35-7 in the 11th Annual MEAC/SWAC Challenge presented by Disney at the Orlando Citrus Bowl.
The game was televised live on ESPN and ESPNews.
Senior DL Javon Hargrave earned the team’s MVP honor after posting seven tackles, 4.5 for a loss of 16 yards, 2.5 sacks, and two hurries to lead the Bulldogs to the season opening win.
S.C. State’s win extended the MEAC’s edge, 9-2, in the all-time series record.
With inclement weather in the Orlando area, the game was delayed minutes shy of two hours.
South Carolina State took the first lead capping a 12 play, 66 yard drive in four minutes and 11 seconds with a six-yard run by Adrian Kullock with 9:24 remaining in the quarter.
The 7-0 advantage proved to be enough for the Bulldogs heading into the half as both teams remained scoreless in the second.
