College Football Got What They Wanted

The 39 Bowl games are done with only the National title left it is time to reflect upon the last season.

To start this off, I think TCU should have been in the playoff party. After beating Ole Miss by a landslide and the Majority of SEC teams losing their Bowl games, the term "Power Conference" should be eliminated from all talks.

We started the season with a new hope that a National Title would be given to just one team, and all arguments would be settled with a "Playoff."  Finally humans were picking the top teams, no computers or Coaches Poll. This is a committee of college football minds, given to us to show us the playoff light.

Wait, did you say Condelaza Rice was part of the Board, WTF!  This is not foreign or domestic Government policies. You have to help Larry ColdPepper decide who to give the trophy to and an "Ice Cold Dr.Pepper!" (Hopefully the 6 pack is in the mail).  The Horned Frogs were left out, Buckeyes made it, and no one was surprised to see an elephant again.

The true purpose of this Playoff Committee was to ensure that the four best teams made the playoffs, which was going to yield exciting match ups. Now let's think about it, FSU undefeated gets blown off the map by a PAC-12 team, the conference no one thinks plays football.

I expected a great game from 2 mobile QBs that would stretch the field and dazzle us with Electric field play.  There was a lot of hype before the game about Toughness of Schedule, I said all year long FSU played weak teams.I knew Oregon was good, but what they showed us was eye opening.

From the kickoff Oregon was putting on a clinic.  FSU could not stop the onslaught of Green. The defense swarmed Jameis Winston and his backfield, like Ducks out for Blood. By the end analyst were left shaking their heads and the Ducks are flying South for the Championship. What a Game!! We finally learned how Oregon would play against a non Pac 12, top tier opponent.  We learned that FSU was not the truth, they had a week schedule. 2 questions We CFB junkies always wanted to know.

Alabama Vs Ohio State, this was the game that no one wanted to see except Brutus.  Alabama closed the season out by embarrassing a few teams that lost their Bowl games, giving the nation a sense that this team was #1.

Ohio State made a convincing argument after losing to Virginia Tech the first game of the season, starting a Freshman QB and going undefeated in the BIG10.  TCU left sitting on the doorstep after losing to a Nation's best Baylor Bears.  Oh, Well.  This is the matchup that was chosen by the committee as 2 of the "Best Teams" faced off.  The game gave us everything We wanted.

A defensive start from both sides, with Ohio State putting the first points on the board.  More defense than the "Tide Rolled",  but Buckeyes don't sink.  The Ohio State defense gave up some points but managed to stay within a touchdown.

They also kept Amari Cooper off the board in 2nd half, and a 3rd quarter turnover gave the Buckeyes a 7 point lead that held the test of time.  For the first time this season, we saw Alabama play like they had no hope, making throws of desperation and play after play of negative yards.  I loved watching them stew after years of playing for Titles on Your name sake. You Goliath have met Your David, and His name is Brutus!

I woke up the next morning feeling complete inside, and for the next few days as well.  I was no longer torn inside to see the Horned Frogs or Baylor. I had been given what I wanted, two great games with two story lines that only college football could write.  I am not going to say statistically the committee got it right, but on a sense of Entertainment.....
Good Job Condelaza Rice & The Boys!
