NBA Nitecap Blog: Guess Who Is Leading the League?

Remember me? I'm Chris Bosh and we are tied for first place. Photo credit: NBA

For tonight's edition of the NBA Nitecap Blog, we take a look at some not-so-obvious statistics and other obvious ones.

Heat in Miami

Sure it's early, but the Miami Heat are leading the Eastern Conference. Their 2-0 and second in the league for PPG with 110.5, first in the league for assists with 26.5. That is only .5 away from the Golden State Warriors. Why is this so significant? They never averaged more when LeBron James was in Miami. Chris Bosh as gone from the third wheel to averaging 28 points and 11.5 boards in his first two games. Luol Deng, Dwyane Wade, Norris Cole, and Mario Chalmers are all averaging more than 13 PPG. Not bad...

King of TO

LeBron James finds himself leading a statistical category for the first time in his basketball career. He is leading the league in turnovers ladies and gentlemen...turnovers. LeBron is averaging 5.5 turnovers after his first two games. Now, we all know this will not be the case for the entire season, but something to take notice of for now. It must be true...he can do anything.

Lance Stephenson vs Coach Steve Clifford

The Charlotte Hornets could only muster 69 points in a loss to the Memphis Grizzlies. A big reason why was the lackluster play of their big free agent acquisition Lance Stephenson. He was 1-of-6 from the field for only two points and did not play in the fourth quarter.

Coach Steve Clifford: "He just didn't pay very well. I coach to win. I went with the team that played the best. The guys that I know what they're doing out there and played the best are the guys that played. The guys that continue to play like that will be the guys that play."

Tupac Shakur: "We bomb first when we ride..."

Klay!

Newly extended Klay Thompson has a career-high 41 points in a win over the winless Los Angeles Lakers.
Just watch...

Your Out!

Paul Pierce becomes the first player to be ejected this NBA season. He was ejected with :07 seconds left in the second quarter for having two technical fouls.
