NBA: Is Shelly Sterling That Smart?

Did Shelly Sterling orchestrate the billion dollar sale of the LA Clippers?

The Los Angeles Clippers have gone from the black-eye of the NBA to a $2 billion dollar pay day for the Sterlings after the announcement of the franchise's sale for former Microsoft CEO Steve Ballmer. The total transformation of fortune over the last 45-days seems too scripted for even Hollywood.

Are we to assume that nobody knew that Donald Sterling was a closet racist? Are we to assume that a plot to expose his thoughts would not lead to the ultimate sale of the franchise?

If You Believe In Random Acts

Let's take a close look at the random events that have taken place prior to the sale.

  1. Some random chick with an initial for a first name records a bated conversation with an 84-year old that in any court of law would find inadmissible as pure entrapment.
  2. Recording gets leaked out to TMZ of all places.
  3. Nobody stops Donald Sterling from going on CNN with Anderson Cooper to make a bigger ass of himself.
  4. Shelly Sterling continues to come to Clippers games after her husband has been banned by the NBA. (By the way, if you ban the owner for life shouldn't that include the entire ownership)
  5. Shelly gets a letter from Donald's attorney stating that she can negotiate the sell of the team.
  6. Shelly gets Donald tested for dementia. I don't think anyone in their 80s would not have a case of mentally slowing down.
  7. Steve Ballmer, Shelly Sterling, and Adam Silver start the negotiation for the sale of the team before the NBA Board of Governors votes to oust Donald Sterling as promised to the NBAPA.

The Plan

Humor me for just a second...

Hell hath no fury like a women scorned. What better way to stick-it to the cheating husband than to strip him of his biggest asset? The same asset that he used to meet and flaunt his young girlfriend while he was married. Sure in the state of California she could divorce him and be set for the rest of her life, but $2 billion dollars is $2 billion dollars!

Let's say it only cost her confronting the mistress to get her to record her husband saying racist things that she has heard for decades, dropping her lawsuit with her, and giving her $1 million dollars and fame if everything goes according to plan.

It may have cost her the putting her married name of Sterling in the category of public shame like Sandusky, Paterno, or Wallace, but he last name will change back to Stein soon.

Why has Shelly signed her divorce papers, but never filed them? Why does she want us all to believe she loves the team and the team loves her?

For this plan to work we have to admit that Mrs. Sterling is the shrewd business woman that we have heard she is. She would have to play everyone involved, including Magic Johnson, like an Austrian violin.

To believe that she is that smart, you have to only believe that no human is dumb enough to throw everything away in 45-days like Donald did.
