NFL: Rise of the NFC West

NFC West
by J. T.

I know people will state the AFC North is the best division in football, some will argue the NFC East or NFC South is the best division and everybody would be able to make valid points to back their case but I’m not here to shoot down the other divisions, I’m here to marvel at the marvelous jump the NFC West has made within a short period of time.

The NFC West is comprised with the San Francisco 49ers, Seattle Seahawks, Arizona Cardinals and St. Louis Rams. To understand where I’m coming from we will take your ***** *** back to 2010 (In my Jeezy voice) the Seattle Seahawks were the first time ever to win a division in the NFL with a losing record. Yeah it was crazy the Seahawks were 7-9, analyst were pissed and the whole NFL wanted the West abolished. To make matters worse the Seahawks beat the Saints in the playoffs pulling off an unthinkable upset.
Fast forward to the 2013 season and the NFC West is an elite division from top to bottom, every team is a threat to make it to the playoffs and they have two teams that are Super Bowl contenders. The Seahawks and 49ers are the contenders, while the Rams and Cardinals are on everyone's radar with a shot at the post season.
The 49ers have dominated the division the last 2 years but the Seahawks are right there now and with that being said the rest of the league has had to take notice. I don't know what the future holds for the division but for the next few years the NFC West will be making noise. As a 49ers fan I'm just happy the division isn't in its 2010 state.
