The Dallas Mavericks introduced their new and improved roster to season ticket holders and media. After fielding a few questions and making statements, we learned that the team's biggest free agent aquisition of the offseason, Monta Ellis, has deep Dallas ties.
Ellis, the Jackson, Mississippi native, told us that he has a lot of family members in both Houston and Dallas. So much so, that their family reunion next month will be in Dallas. "I have a lot of family members here", says Ellis, "I'm also a Dallas Cowboys fan."
He says the decision to have the Ellis family reunion in Dallas was made before he knew he was playing for the Mavericks. Talk about irony.
When he opted out his deal with the Milwaukee Bucks, Dallas was on a short list of potential landing spots he preferred. Although he has family ties to the city, he was quick to point out that he will not be hosting the family reunion, only attending.
