NBA Friday Night Preview

Courtesy of NBA.com
Big night in the "Association" with teams looking to continue streaks and stars returning. Here is a quick rundown:

New York Knicks at Toronto Raptors
The Knicks right now are infected with injuries. Amare Stoudemire, Tyson Chandler, Kurt Thomas, and Rasheed Wallace are all out. These teams face each other again on Saturday in Madison Square Garden so it will be interesting to see if Knicks coach Mike Woodson approaches this like a pre-playoff game series to get what is left of his team ready to go. The Raptors have beat the Knicks 2 straight times this season so far. Look for Rudy Gay vs Carmelo Anthony.

OKC Thunder at Orlando Magic
One of these teams will end a losing streak
tonight. The Thunder have lost 2 straight and the Magic have lost 5 straight. This is a rematch from last Friday in OKC where the Thunder had the Magic down by 27 before letting them come back to within 4 in the fourth quarter. Expect Russell Westbrook and Kevin Durant to put on a show. Good game to go see if your in Orlando.

Milwaukee Bucks at Indiana Pacers
The Pacers clinched a playoff birth on Wednesday, but need to play well tonight because they may see the Bucks in playoffs. They also want to win the Central division. The Bucks  are a scrappy team. You just don't know who is going to go off on you at any given time with the plethora of scorers they have in the backcourt. The Bucks have beaten the Pacers twice this year. Look for first-time All-star Paul George to make a statement.

Portland Trailblazers at Atlanta Hawks
The Trailblazers have only won 10 games on the road this season. The Hawks are trying to pass Brooklyn in the standings. Other than that, this is a good game if your a season ticket holder to give up your seats to friend or co-worker that has not been to game this season. I'm just saying...

Detroit Pistons at Miami Heat
Only 3 NBA teams have walked out of American Airlines Arena the victor this season. The Pistons have only walked out of any arena other than the Palace this season the victor 8 times. The Heat Streak continues...

Memphis Grizzlies at New Orleans Hornets (Pelicans)
Interesting game since both teams are coming off last-second wins against better teams. Grizzlies squeaked by the Thunder and Hornets beat the Celtics. The Hornets have played well at home lately, but don't have size to matchup with Marc Gasol and Zach Randolph. Good game for Big Easy basketball fans.

Cleveland Cavaliers at Houston Rockets
The Cavs will be without their top 3 scorers again for this game, but Houston can not BS around. The last time the Rockets took a team lightly, Golden State beat them by 30! The Rockets have to get on a win streak if they want to hold off the Lakers from taking the 7th spot.

Boston Celtics vs Dallas Mavericks
I will be at this game tonight and look forward to spending a few minutes with Jason Terry. Coach Rick Carlisle commented today that Jet is an all-time Mav and deserves the respect of the organization as such, but Mark Cuban may not feel that way. If you believe not re-signing him as any indication of how he feels about Terry. The Mavericks have been the most entertaining team to watch the last couple of weeks. The wins have been good and the losses at times have been better entertainment value. The last time these two teams met in Boston it went to OT. Expect this game to be a another fight and Jet to spread his wings in the AAC again.

Utah Jazz at San Antonio
Tony Parker is set to return tonight. This was not in Utah's plan of course. The Jazz have lost 10 of their last 13 games and currently out of the playoffs. They will play hard, but it will not be enough against the best team in the West.

Minnesota Timberwolves at Phoenix Suns
The Battle of the 23 win teams. Although this may not be the best game tonight, it may be the most entertaining if you like great point guard play. Rubio vs Dragic is good basketball.

Washington Wizards vs Los Angeles Lakers
The Lakers are the nitecap for the association which works out so everyone can watch it. The Lakers get Pau Gasol and Kobe Bryant back tonight. Coach Mike D'Antoni has said he want Pau in the starting lineup with Howard, Bryant, Peace, and Nash. Expect him to try that tonight to get it figured out. Look for Kobe to put on show in the first half, because it may be a blowout by the 4th quarter. Oh, I almost forgot. The Wizards will be there too.
