MAVS HEART NOT ENOUGH TO KEEP WIN STREAK

Dallas Mavericks fall to San Antonio Spurs 92-91

The Dallas Mavericks were unable
to stretch their win streak to a season high 5 games. The San Antonio Spurs, in their 6th game without Tony Parker, pull out the win after Vince Carter missing a 3-pointer to win the game in the final seconds. The win gives the Spurs the season sweep over the Mavericks for the first time in 15 years.

Nobody can say the Mavs did not come to win. Even Spurs head coach Greg Popovich admitted after the game that Dallas "played better than" his team.

Although the Mavs outscored the Spurs 50-42 in the second half, the "Big Fundamental" Tim Duncan was stellar with 28 points, 19 boards, 2 assists, and 1 block.

Dirk Nowitzki led the Mavs with 21 points, 11 boards, 3 assists, 3 steals, and 1 block.

The Mavericks, now 30-34, were hoping to make up needed ground on the current 8th playoff seed LA Lakers since Kobe Bryant will miss a few games. The Spurs win gives them 50 for the season with 17 games left as the battle for a 1 seed.
