Kobe Bryant suffered a severe sprained ankle last night in a loss to the Atlanta Hawks and has been ruled out "indefinitely"
With the news that the Lakers
may have to make a run for the playoffs with Kobe Bryant, the responsiblity now falls in a player that has not decided if he wants to even be a Laker. The team that had the "Mamba's" will to rely one now has the shoulders and back of Dwight Howard to count on. Also his attitude. Lakers fans will not get to see what his worth is.
The D'Antoni offense may not look more like the run and gun style that made him a hot coaching commodity. Steve Nash as two MVP trophies to prove that D'Antoni's pick and roll is hard to stop.
But lets face the reality. Dwight Howard has not shown any reason this season to believe that he wants this team to be a legitimate contender. After putting together some good statistical games during the Lakers 4 game win streak, last night he musters 16 boards. Not bad.
This is Howard's chance to win LA. To make everyone comfortable with him being the heir to the Lakers Dynasty when Bryant decides to retire; which does not seem to looming. Time for Superman to come out of the phone booth.
