CONFERENCE NEWS AND NOTES

• With 490 yards through the air, LaMontiez Ivy has thrown for a career-high in yardage for the third straight week. Ivy is now second in the nation in passing yardage with 1801.

• Not to be outdone, Grambling’s Johnathan Williams, who ranks No. 4 in the nation in passing yards with 1502, stands all alone atop the leaderboard with 19 scoring tosses.
Perhaps more impressively, Williams has completed 99 passes this year, meaning he throws a touchdown pass roughly every fifth attempt.

• Jackson State’s Dan Williams and Devin Fosselman have combined to form one of the most effective wide receiver duos in the country this season. The two have combined for 1041 yards this season, which is the second-best receiving yardage totals by two teammates thus far this season. Only Eastern Washington’s Cooper Kupp and Kendrick Bourne have combined for more yards (1189).

• Alcorn State’s offense continues to hum along, as the Braves have cracked the top 10 in terms of rush offenses. Alcorn State’s 1256 rushing yards ranks No. 9 in the nation, and the team’s 6.31 yards per pop is the second best yards-per-rush average in the nation. In addition, Alcorn’s 18 scores on the ground ranks second in the nation.

• SWAC defenders are also making their mark on the defensive leaderboards, as Alabama State linebacker Kourtney Berry is tied for first in the nation when it comes to total tackles with 71.
