It is time to release the first NBA Power Rankings for the 2014-15 NBA Season. There are quite a few surprises in the Top Ten after one week of basketball. Let the debate begin...

+Rodney Fisher

Those of you readers that are new to my NBA Power Rankings let me inform you on how the list is made. Unlike some analyst that use fancy algorithms, stats, or favoritism, my rankings are purely based on watching the game. It's the best way to rank teams.

1. Dallas Mavericks 3-1

Not only do the Mavericks have the #1 offense in the league, but the arguably the most talented roster assembled this year. Outside of a one point loss to the reigning champions on ring night, the Mavs have dominated. They have a tough game coming up against their rivals, the Miami Heat, on Sunday. That is a can't miss game...

2. Memphis Grizzlies 4-0

Now completely healthy, the combination of Marc Gasol and Zach Randolph have been lethal for the teams they have played so far. The team that nobody wants to face in the playoffs has become the team nobody wants face at all.

3. San Antonio Spurs 1-1

They are the defending champions and from watching them so far, they have not lost a step. They finally get Kawhi Leonard back, so we get The Finals MVP in action.

4. Miami Heat 3-0

Don't look now, but the Miami Heat without LeBron James are the best team in the Eastern Conference. Chris Bosh looks unstoppable and Dwyane Wade is starting to heat up. Their game against Houston and Dallas will be a good tests against a Western Conference team.

5. Golden State Warriors 3-0

It's been the Klay Thompson show in Bay. After signing a lucrative extension with the franchise, he leads the league in scoring (29.7 ppg) and wins Western Conference Player of the Week. The Splash Brothers are here...

6. Chicago Bulls 2-1

Derrick Rose has missed two of the three games they have played, but they are still 4th in the NBA in scoring, 106 PPG. They have a light week against losing teams with Rose scheduled to return to action.

7. Houston Rockets 4-0

Most will tell you that the Rockets should be ranked higher, but after watching all three games against all teams with only one win combined I am not overly impressed. Let's see how this week shakes out.

8. Cleveland Cavaliers 1-1

Hey, I don't hate LeBron. The fact remains they are still young with a rookie head coach that does not know the NBA game. This will take some time to get going. Relax...

9. Toronto Raptors 2-1

They have look great, except when they played Miami last week. The missed a ton of free throws and lost the game and a chance to show the East they are ready to move up the ranks, Next time fellas...

10. Washington Wizards 2-1

The team has plenty of firepower. Their biggest knock is just not having a true identity, When John Wall is hot, they move the ball away from him. When Marcin Gortat is doing damage, they move the ball away from him. Let's make it work fellas...
