Manti Te'o has now proven to Katie Couric, an ABC interviewer, that he in fact briefly extended the hoax after knowing it was all a scandalous and confusing scam. Te'o denies any involvement in knowing that this all was a hoax. He still claims to be an innocent victim that had no clue Ronaiah Tuiasusopo was behind Diane O' Meara's face. Te'o explains during his interview that he was not lying before December 6th. He claims that he was in love with Lennay Kekua and he never suspected her to be fake. On September 12th, Manti received the phone call that his supposed
girlfriend had died of cancer ( some even say a car accident). Two days after, Manti led the media and viewers to believe that this woman had in fact died following his grandmothers' death. He also asserted that he wanted to make the both of the women very happy. Keeping this hoax going was not the accurate thing to do, but Te'o does admit to this.
Embarrassment was an enormous factor in Manti's story. The emotion he brought to the table while speaking of Lennay Kekua was not only convincing, but was once real to Te'o. Having to approach the media two days after finding out about this hoax was obviously not enough time for Te'o to realize just what he was doing. He may or may not have wanted to use this twisted story as a factor when referring to the Heisman Trophy. Whether or not Manti wanted to boost his career, he came out with what he believes is the truth and hopefully will stay the truth without anymore story-line change up.
Manti Te'o advanced this scam to another level and now faces the media and consequences surrounding. This story now seems to be piecing back all the pieces of its unstable puzzle. Some of this baggage upon Te'o should now be dismissed There are questions that will never be provided with reasonable answers or answers that viewers will understand, but Manti IS addressing the media with more of the story and this should satisfy most people concerned with this confusing topic.
