Jerry Jones setting the table for Jon Gruden

Jerry Jones promised Dallas Cowboys fans big changes during the offseason after his team goes 8-8 and misses the playoffs by losing the last game for the second straight year. First he let go of the running backs coach, then defensive coordinator Rob Ryan got the boot. Special teams coach and even the tight ends coach John Garrett, Jason Garrett's brother, were next. No real
 surprises here.

Jerry is an oil man. Oil men hedge their bets. Jones is always thinking
a few steps ahead. Recently, Jones has replaced the defensive coordinator position with Monte Kiffin. He is known as the architect of the Tampa 2 defense made famous by the Tampa Bay Buccaneers run to the Super Bowl. Next he decides to give offensive coordinator/play-calling duties to Bill Callahan, whom rose to fame with the high scoring offense of the Oakland Raiders with Rich Gannon, Jerry Rice, and Tim Brown.

So what is the common thread you may ask. It's the head coach during the time that both new position coaches had their best years. That head coach is Jon Gruden. You add in the fact that Gruden goes out of his way to promote and applaud the Cowboys during his Monday Night Football duties and this Cowboys fan's wheels are turning.

Call me crazy or a silver-and-blue optimist, but the writing is on the wall. Garrett has reportedly been put on notice that things need to drasticaly change of he will not be the head coach after next season. What better way to lure one of the NFL's most desired coaching hires than to have his staff already in place.
