OKC Thunder's big mistake: Not starting James Harden over Russell Westbrook

Now that we have finally started the 2012-13 NBA season, who would have predicted during last June's finals that Dwight Howard and Steve Nash would be Lakers, Ray Allen would be in his green for red in Miami, and that James Harden would be in a Houston Rocket uniform.

The Harden trade has so far been the most surprising trade this season. What was OKC thinking?
To trade the most productive 6th man currently in the NBA is a puzzle. This team was 2 games away from the NBA title due to Harden's play. He provided the spark and leadership needed to propel OKC to reach the finals.

What a bold and smart move by the Rockets. In 3 games with the Rockets, James Harden is averaging 35.3 points per game and become the leader of the team. That shows how good this guy really is.

Why was he not starting in OKC? He is a much better shooter, scorer, and distributor of the ball than Russell Westbrook. The Thunder really made a mistake not allowing him to start. Westbrook is an inconsistent point guard and scores in spurts. Harden is a dynamic scorer and more of a floor general. He consistently causes headaches for defenses around the league.

Why not keep him in OKC? Why not give the Thunder another shot at the title? Why break up a group of guys that everyone picked to repeat as Western Conference champions?

Houston fans should rejoice! With the addition of Harden, Houston has now become a contender in an already talented Western Conference. Keep an eye on Harden as he moves from 6th man to super star.
