MAVERICKS SIGN GUARD O.J. MAYO

DALLAS — The Dallas Mavericks announced today that they have signed free agent guard O.J. Mayo. Per team policy, terms of the deal were not disclosed.

Mayo (6-4, 210) was the first round draft pick (third overall) in the 2008 NBA Draft of the Minnesota Timberwolves. Mayo’s draft rights were later involved in a draft day trade that sent him, along with Marko Jaric, Antoine Walker and Greg Buckner, to the Memphis Grizzlies in exchange for Brian Cardinal, Mike Miller, Jason Collins and the draft rights to Kevin Love.

The HuntingtonW.Va., native has played in 301 career games (181 starts) with Memphis. He holds career averages of 15.2 points, 3.3 rebounds, 2.7 assists, 1.1 steals and 32.8 minutes per game. Mayo has also proven to be durable playing in 301 of a possible 312 games throughout his four-year career.

Mayo was named NBA All-Rookie First Team in 2009 and runner-up to Derrick Rose for the 2008-09 NBA Rookie of the Year Award after averaging 18.5 points and 3.8 rebounds, 3.2 assists and 38.0 minutes in 82 games (82 starts).

“We are thrilled to make O.J. Mayo a part of the Mavericks family,” President of Basketball Operations Donnie Nelson said. “O.J. is a young, dynamic player with tremendous upside. His ability to play both backcourt positions will give us depth and versatility. We are excited and welcome him to Dallas.”

STEVE NASH IS A LA LAKER; 3 YEARS $25 MILLION

Words are only words...right. After Steve Nash gave a radio interview saying that he was "old school" and thought it would be to hard to wear a Lakers jersey, he will now join the team next season.

Nash, a two-time NBA MVP, will replace Ramon Sessions who opted out of his final year to pursue free agency. This will definitely help the Lakers stay title contenders in the Western Conference.

Nash turned down a lucrative deal from his home country Toronto Raptors of $36 million for the same 3 years. Lakers acquire Nash through sign and trade with Phoenix using a trade exception from Lamar Odom's deal.

Nash was also being pursued by his old team the Dallas Mavericks, NY Knicks, and Miami Heat also.

MAVS OUT OFF DERON WILLIAMS SWEEPSTAKES; JET TERRY HEADED TO BOSTON

Sources have informed us that Deron Williams will not sign with the Mavs as many hoped.

Jet Terry has also received a 3 year, $15 million dollar deal to join the Boston Celtics. He will allow the Mavericks to counter offer the deal.

Jason Terry feels a Mavs deal for Dwight Howard is too good to pass up

"Next day and a half is going to say a lot" commented Jet after a Mavs win last night. "Say we win it this year. Your not going to bring eight guys back....same position as now".

The position the Mavs are in all rides on free agency in the upcoming offseason. Mark Cuban as not offered any players, including Jet Terry, a contract extension.

"Until Dwight makes a decision everybody is going to think that....I keep watching the ticker seeing the Mavericks still have a chance to get him. Why would you pass up that opportunity?"

Cowboys cut Terence Newman...Finally

I have a lot of thoughts about this move...I will save it for the show Thursday!

Cowboys also cut kicker David Buehler.

Saints resign Colston; 5 years - $40 million

Randy Moss signs with the 49ers; 1 year deal

After a workout with coach Jim Harbaugh, the San Francisco 49ers sign Randy Moss to a 1 year deal. Jury is still out if Moss can push the 49ers over the top.

Seems ironic that T.O. is playing indoor ball and Moss is now with his former team.

Could this push Peyton to sign with the 49ers?

Cowboys and Redskins take a huge hit before free agency tomorrow

Somehow...salary moves made by both the Dallas Cowboys and Washington Redskins during the 2010 uncapped year will cost them millions. The Cowboys will lose $10 million and the Redskins will get dinged for $36 million. Jerry Jones and Daniel Snyder decided to front load a few contracts to take advantage of the uncapped year, but other owners feel that this caused an unfair advantage. Fans of both teams beg to differ.

This will affect the Redskins the most since they have given up their draft for 3 years to acquire this year's number 2 pick, RGIII. This will make it tougher to build around him rather through the draft or free agency...

Angels sign Pujols and Wilson; Rangers are still AL West favroite

C. J. Wilson has helped the Rangers control the AL West the last two seasons. His record against AL West teams is 21-8. Albert is agurably the best player in baseball. The Angels are still an old team. Sure the rotation of Weaver, Heron, and Wilson makes them better, but look at the Phillies. They have the best rotation in MLB and did not get it done last year. The Rangers still have the true core of their success with Hamilton, Cruz, Andrus, Kinsler, Napoli, Feliz, Ogando, and you can even add Beltre to the list. Jon Daniels has to sign some key players over the next two years as their free agency approaches. You can lose C. J., but you can't lose Hamilton or the chance to make a mid-season move similar to the last two seasons that have really been the key to back-to-back AL West Championships. The AL West Pennant still goes through Arlington.

CC Sabathia gets another $30 million and another year

Instead of free agency, Sabathia gets another year and $30 million more from the Yankees. The new deal pays him $122 million over the next 5 years....
