Mike Wallace and the Miami Dolphins may not be in the long term plans for one another.

During this early part of the offseason, Dolphins brass has thought about a number of different ways to find a solution for themselves and wide receiver Mike Wallace. Reports have surfaced that Miami has thought of trading him at some point during this off season, to which teams that would be interested in that scenario  is anyone's guess.

That is just one way they front office has thought about this. Also to have been reported is having Wallace take a pay cut of some sort from his contract right now or even just keeping the embattled wide receiver.

With all these possibilities now out in the open, their is certainly a feeling that this marriage is on the rocks and is getting ready to go through a divorce of some sort.

Wallace was tagged as a big signing by the Dolphins back prior to the start of teh 2013 season. He was coming off some great years with the Steelers, which included two 1,000 yard plus seasons, and Miami thought they had captured lightening in a bottle and gotten themselves a legitimate number one type of wide receiver that could help them get back to the postseason.

The deal was five years, $60 million which now looks like a contract that Miami would like to rid themselves of in some shape or form.

Though Wallace has at times shown flashes of what he is capable of when playing at 100%, he has been too inconsistent for the Dolphins taste and have not been able to rely on him to help this team get out of the average category in the AFC picture.

According to Omar Kelly of the Sun Sentinel  the Dolphins have no interest in restructuring Wallace's remaining contract of threes years, $32.9 million left. That leaves this situation in limbo for now as nothing can be decided until $3 million of his salary kicks in and becomes guaranteed on March 15.

Both sides would like a speedy resolution to this situation in the best interests of both parties and get it done before the off season programs start up in the spring and summertime. Until then, we are left to just wait and watch this unfold.
