Eagles head coach Chip Kelly said today that Sproles has a sprained MCL from last night's game against the Giants. He is expected to only miss one week of game action before he will be ready to get back on the field and contribute for Philly.

Sproles  was awkwardly fallen on in the midst of being in a big pile of players on a rushing attempt, late in the third quarter as the eagles were in the midst of thumping the Giants 27-0.

After the pile was cleared up,Sproles stayed on the ground and winced in pain as he grabbed his knee. He was able to walk off the field with a trainer under his own power which was a good sign that the injury was not  as severe as it was thought to be when he initially went down to the ground.

The Eagles bye week has come just at the right time especially now with Sproles' injury. This means Philadelphia does not play another game until October 26th when they face the Arizona Cardinals. This block of time will provide Sproles with a generous amount of time to rest and recovery from his sprained MCL and enable him to only miss one week of action according to the team.

The veteran running back has proven to be a huge coup for the Eagles this season. He has a combined 689 yards through running, catching and returning the ball for Philadelphia to go along with four total touchdowns. He has been a perfect fit for Chip Kelly's uptempo, run heavy offense.

Sproles impact also has helped a running game that up until last night's game has been struggling with LeSean McCoy's slow start to the season.
