Tim Tebow will be joining the New England Patriots this upcoming NFL season as the third string quarterback on the roster. This move as been rumored since Tebow was released from the New York Jets, but with the official announcement today, this seems like the right fit for both.Tebow has been the most polarizing football player since taking the Denver Broncos to the second round of the playoffs. The most shocking thing is that he has not started a game since his second round loss to ironically the New England Patriots. After becoming a publicity stunt for the Jets, the same team that ended Tebow-mania will now welcome him to the team.
The Patriots organization told Tim when he was released that they were interested, but he would have to keep a very low profile, which he did. Josh McDaniels is now the offenisve coordinator for the team, the same guy that moved up to take Tebow in the first round as the Broncos head coach.
The Pats averaged the most offensive plays last season. The had a well balanced run and pass attack. Tebow is not challenging Tom Brady, so why is this a good fit?
Tim gets the chance to watch and learn from the leagues best from a position and coaching standpoint. The franchise can handle Tebow-mania. Patriot fans are not going to yell "Tebow-Tebow" after an interception. This is the break he needed to really learn the quarterback position. His stock will rise for future openings under this system.
The Pats get another hard worker. He may not push Brady for his job, but he will motivate other back-up players to work harder.
