Jason Garrett's vote of confidence in Jay Ratliff shows his lack of leadership

ESPNDallas.com is reporting that Dallas Cowboys head coach Jason Garrett has pledged his support for Jay Ratliff.

When asked if he would return his answer was, "Absolutely"

Let's backtrack a little bit shall we.

First he decides not to play hurt when his team is trying to win the division and make the playoffs. When the owner and GM Jerry Jones confronts him about it, he spazzes out and tries to fight him. After his backup Josh Brent makes a dumb drunk driving decision that kills a fellow teammate, Jay Ratliff decides it would be a great idea to try his own version of drunk driving and side swipe a 18-wheeler on the same freeway. Yet, as Garrett put it, "He played with great demeanor, passion."

Am I missing something here?

Not only have a been a Cowboy fan way before Jay Ratliff ever made a tackle in the NFL, but I have lost a close friend to drunk joyriding. As a head coach you have to make examples when examples deserve to be made. Cutting Jay Ratliff was teed up for Garrett to finally set a precedent. Instead of making contact, he threw his club in his back swing.
