Dallas Cowboys vs Detroit Lions (PreGame Report)(The Battle of Tha "D")
Well the battle of 2-7 teams starts at 12:15 at JerryWorld in Arlington, TX. The Cowboys are coming off an impressive win against then NFC East leading New York Giants. The Lions crawl in wounded at QB and RB trying to bounce back from a road loss to a then no-win Buffalo Bills team. Interim head coach Jason Garrett had the guys in pads during the week for only the second time this season. The offense should hopefully take a page from the Bills and run the ball. Fred Jackson last week rushed for 133 yards. With the 3-headed running back that the Cowboys use, all 3 backs should see some action. That leads us to the real battle for the offense, the front 4. The Cowboys lineman will have to contend with Ndamukong Suh and Corey Williams. If the blocking holds up like it did against the Giants front 4, this shouldn't be a problem. The Cowboys defense will again have to play big in the secondary. Terrance Newman did practice this week and is expected to start. Lions QB Sean Hill passed for 323 yards last week and WR Calvin Johnson accounted for 128 yards. There is an interesting back story to this game. Cowboys QB Jon Kitna led the Detroit Lions to a no win season not long ago. Although this lead to a first round pick in Matthew Stafford, Lions fans have not forgiving him. Cowboys WR Roy Williams was the Lions franchise player for a number of seasons. Lions' fans have long accused Williams of quitting on plays and his team on several occasions. Ex-teammate Lions center Dominic Raiola went on Pro Football Talk to talk about Williams current status with the Cowboys and his declining production. Overall, the battle of 2-7, doesn't sound like good tv on Sunday, but with the Cowboys high hopes and the Lions pride on the line this should be a good game.
