Jesuit Stuns Prosper Walnut Grove 50-49 in Overtime on a Game-Winning Two-Point Pass
DFW, Week 7 got started a night early, and Thursday's game is going to be hard to top.
Jesuit beat Prosper Walnut Grove 50-49 in overtime at Children's Health Prosper ISD Stadium, and the two District 6-6A teams combined for more than 1,100 yards. Walnut Grove got the ball first in overtime, and Kade Pittenger scored from 3 yards out for a 49-42 lead. Jesuit answered on its first snap with J.P. Livingstone's 25-yard touchdown pass to George Gladstone. Instead of kicking, the Rangers went for two and the win, and Livingstone hit Hunter Helm. Ballgame.
Livingstone threw five touchdown passes and close to 400 yards. Jesuit's stats have him 23-of-30 for 395, while The Dallas Morning News has 396. Joseph Konings caught seven passes for 182 yards and two scores, including a 96-yard touchdown on the first play after Jesuit stopped Walnut Grove on fourth down inside the 5. Jesuit says that's its longest play from scrimmage since at least 2014. Ty Daboub ran for 111 yards and scored three times, two on the ground and one through the air, including the 1-yard run that tied it 42-42 in the fourth quarter. Mack Murphy had 18 tackles and a forced fumble.
Walnut Grove did plenty to win. Camryn King ran for a game-best 267 yards on 52 carries, per the DMN, Ashton Gosselin threw for 309 yards and three touchdowns, and Pittenger scored three rushing touchdowns. Jesuit's release says neither team led by more than seven all night. "I knew this game was going to be a shootout, and our guys just refused to stop fighting to win," Jesuit coach Brandon Hickman said. Walnut Grove coach Tommy Allison: "We had our chances to win tonight, and we just couldn't make that one last play."
This shakes up the district. Jesuit (4-2, 3-0) keeps a share of first place, while Walnut Grove (5-1, 2-1) took its first regular-season loss since Oct. 14, 2024, snapping an 18-game streak, per Jesuit.
