UFC on Fox 11 is being
held in Orlando, Florida on Saturday, April 19th. The top three (3) fights on this card
look to be very action-packed and could move people up in the rankings. Unlike last week, I do not think that
any of these fighters have anything to worry about from the standpoint of being
cut from the UFC if they lose. All
six (6) of these fighters “bring the noise” every time they enter the octagon
and it is never a dull moment to watch them fight. I think that whoever wins the Werdum/Browne fight will be
next in line for a title shot.

Ethics in MMA
Dana White terminates Silva contract after being arrested. Photo credit UFC |
Anyone who keeps up with MMA, or more to the point, the UFC, has heard this weeks news about one of the UFC's fighters getting their contract terminated. Tiago Silva was arrested this past friday on two counts of attempted murder, aggrevated battery with a deadly weapon and obstruction without violence, as reported by NBC Miami. Miami SWAT was called to go in and get out of his house, where he had barricaded himself. Within a very short time, UFC president Dana White announced that they were terminating his contract and that "This guy will never fight in the UFC again."
Do You Understand The MMA Scoring System?

I'm hoping that today's blog is much more interactive on your part (the readers). I am ACTUALLY asking a question, and if any of you guys/girls have a viable answer...I would sincerely appreciate it.
Can anyone explain (in detail) the scoring system in MMA today...?
MMA: Avoiding Injuries In Martial Arts
MMA training is key. |
I need to start my blog off with a disclaimer each time. I am not a doctor, nutritionist, mental therapist, psychologist, physical therapist (PT), etc, etc, etc. Everything you read in my blog is either my opinions or things that I have researched on my own. With that being said...enjoy.
Women in MMA
Are women fighting entertainment? Photo credit MMA |
For almost two decades, I have been watching or been involved in the world of MMA. And for most of that time, the women that have attempted to compete in this combat sport have been scoffed and laughed at by a lot of fans, including this writer.
UFC and Dana White...Enough is Enough.

In my last blog, I discussed what the UFC was going to do about their lack of "household name" fighters. These are fighters that EVERYONE know...not just fans of MMA, but soccer moms and business men. These huge names equate to huge Pay Per View (PPV) numbers for the UFC fights. So I wasn't sure how to react when I heard that Dana White and the UFC were considering bringing back Brock Lesnar to fight in the heavyweight division again.
UFC 2014

The year 2013 came to an exciting and shattering close for the Ultimate Fighting Championship. Within two weeks the UFC’s two biggest stars have fallen of the canvas for the foreseeable future.
Former UFC Middleweight Champion Anderson Silva faces a tough road to recovery which has many questioning if he will ever fight again after shattering his leg at UFC 168. While former UFC Welterweight Champion and PPV star Georges St-Pierre temporary retired and vacated his belt due person stress and family issues.
Is The UFC In Trouble...?
Are UFC fans leaving? |
Over the past 10+ years, the UFC has had a relatively easy time achieving their Pay-Per-View (PPV) ratings quotas because of the huge names that they have had fighting for their organization. Names like Randy "The Natural" Couture, Chuck "The Iceman" Liddell, Anderson "The Spider" Silva, Forrest Griffin, George St.Pierre, Rhonda Rousey have become house-hold names. Even people that are not really MMA fans know these people and what sport they promote. But in the past few years, and even 2013, saw a mass exodus of the "famous" fighters leaving the sport, either via retirement or injuries.
TRT Ban in MMA
by Lance LeVan
Holy Hell, Batman. They've been talking about it and talking about it, but I NEVER thought they would go through with it. But the Nevada State Athletic Commission (NSAC) has finally banned applications for therapeutic use exemptions (TUE) for testosterone replacement therapy (TRT) in boxing and MMA. This is the state that is the home to the UFC and a large percentage of their fights.
