Can Any Teams in the Western Conference Beat the Spurs or Warriors

Are there any teams in the West that can challenge the Warriors or the Spurs.

Can any teams in the Western Conference beat the Spurs or Warriors?

by Da`Vince “Dino” Wright

It`s Monday and I usually watch the WWE, but tonight is a special night for basketball fans all over the country. The Spurs are playing the Golden State Warriors in Oakland. The Warriors leads the NBA in points scored and the Spurs leads the NBA in defense. The young brash boy from the Bay Area was supposed to be tested by the NBA`s elder statesmen. The game wasn`t even close. The Warriors came out with so much energy that the Spurs couldn`t keep up. It was lopsided to say the least. Curry scored 37 points and saw limited playing time in the 4th. In a span of 8 days the Warriors beat the Cleveland Cavs and San Antonio Spurs by 30 points.

So, lets entertain the question at hand. Can any team in the West beat the Spurs or Warriors? The answer is Yes! You have Oklahoma City, Portland TrailBlazers, Houston Rockets and Utah Jazz.

The Spurs and Warriors are 1 and 2 in the West and the All-Star break hasn`t happened yet. You can be beat at anytime. The Warriors has dropped games to the Mavericks and a surprising Denver Nuggets team. The teams I listed above plays well in the playoffs. Who cares about the regular season. The key is to get to the Western Conference finals to see who will represent the the conference. My grandfather once shared an old saying with me, “Big horse runs fast, don`t run long!” Which means a team like San Antonio has the continuity to play well into the playoffs and eventually win it all. Let`s see who can beat these two teams and represent the West in the upcoming playoffs.

NBA: Is Shelly Sterling That Smart?

Did Shelly Sterling orchestrate the billion dollar sale of the LA Clippers?

The Los Angeles Clippers have gone from the black-eye of the NBA to a $2 billion dollar pay day for the Sterlings after the announcement of the franchise's sale for former Microsoft CEO Steve Ballmer. The total transformation of fortune over the last 45-days seems too scripted for even Hollywood.

One-on-One With Jamal Crawford of the Los Angeles Clippers

Nothing in life is promised. The same holds true for the NBA. Jamal Crawford was drafted eight overall in 2000 NBA draft by the Cleveland Cavaliers after one year with the University of Michigan. Since then, he has put on seven different uniforms. He, unlike most players drafted that year, has carved a niche for himself in the NBA as a sixth man, even winning Sixth Man of the Year in the 2009-2010 season.

I caught up with Crawford in Dallas as his Los Angeles Clippers team prepared to take on the Dallas Mavericks. Crawford was asked to change his role from sixth man to starter due to injuries to J.J. Redick, even before Chris Paul got hurt later in the game. He talked bout his role in the NBA and with the Clippers, his new head coach Doc Rivers, plus advice for upcoming athletes.

Chris Paul may be out 3-5 weeks, or at least his head coach Doc Rivers thinks so. The Los Angeles Clippers beat the Dallas Mavericks tonight 119-112. In a winning effort, they may have lost their superstar to separated shoulder.

NBA: Doc Rivers “Not Surprised” By Mavericks Success

Mavericks this season. Photo credit NBA

Doc Rivers knows basketball. I believe that is safe to say. Not only has he been an NBA coach since 1999, won a championship in 2008, but he also played 13 years in the league. When I asked him about how the Dallas Mavericks have been able to have a winning record with yet another new roster, Doc says we should not be surprised at all.

I saw this information on BSO, salute to them.

Chris Paul got hit with a Jackie Chan kick by Tony Allen. The kick/foul led to Allen getting ejected during Monday nights game.

Allen is known to be an aggressive defender but the Chan kick took it to new heights.

The NBA also suspended Allen for one game.

We have some movement on our NBA Power Rankings this week. This past week hurt more than helped most teams as we watched buzzer beaters and blowouts permeate the association. Will the Miami Heat remain in the top five? How good are the Houston Rockets? Let's get right to it...

Chris Paul has verbally committed to the Los Angeles Clippers that he will sign a 5-year contract extension worth $107 million. The franchises plan to keep Paul was set in motion with the firing of Vinny Del Negro and hiring of ex-Boston Celtics head coach Doc Rivers.

LAKERS HAVE TO GET TO 6TH PLACE

The Los Angeles Lakers, after going 8-2 in their last 10 games, find themselves only 2 games out of 6th place. Currently, the 6th spot is being held by the Golden State Warriors who are .500 in their last 10 games. In order for the Lakers to have any shot to advance out of the 1st round they will have to get the 6th spot.
