NBA Trade Rumors: Dallas Mavericks

by Da`Vince “Dino” Wright

Deron Williams for Jeff Teague? Why would the Mavs entertain the thought?

Seriously speaking Deron Williams should have been a Dallas Maverick four years ago when he decided to take the money from the Brooklyn Nets. He was in his prime, but instead it was four injury prone years wasting away in the Northeast.

Lets talk trade now.

Jeff Teague is younger, an All-Star last year on a team with 60 wins, and his contract dollar wise makes sense. Dennis Schroder has been playing lights out which makes Jeff Teague expendable. Schroder's contract saves the Hawks money and he is younger. Deron Williams is on a team filled with guards and trading him gives more playing time to J.J. Barea, Raymond Felton and Devin Harris. Teague can easily play at the shooting guard position because he is a scorer. Teague can make the clutch shots with the shot clock running down. Williams has struggled in the clutch shooting 37% when he has the ball in his hands.

The Mavs lost big game play when they gave up Monta Ellis and he`s playing big in Indiana right now. The Mavs needs a proven stopper in the paint and rebounding is down on both ends of the floor. JaVale McGee, Selah Merji and Satnam Singh Bahamara could be dealt as well. The problem is not with guards it`s with the big men. There`s so many players on the trading block but the Mavs need to pick up an enforcer in the paint that can play in the post.

Let`s sit back and see what the Mavericks do at the NBA trade deadline.

Derrick Favors was the key piece in the Deron Williams deal for the Jazz a few years back. Favors who hasn’t played lights out has shown potential. So, the Utah Jazz opened up the check book for 4 years at 49 million dollars with the possibility to earn a little over 50 million.

DERON WILLIAMS WILL MEET WITH DALLAS MONDAY, NETS ON TUESDAY, DECISION ON WEDNESDAY, OLYMPIC CAMP ON THURSDAY

Deron Williams is about to have the biggest week of his career. The Mavericks, who have put all the eggs in one basket, get the first try to sign D-Will.

Representing the Mavs will be Rick Carlisle, Donnie Nelson, and Michael Finley. Dirk and Mark Cuban are both out-of-town. This process started over a week ago with Jason Kidd golfing with Deron in the Hamptons.

The Nets best chance may be to make the trade for Dwight Howard before Deron arrives on Tuesday.

Dallas Mavericks vs Utah Jazz (PreGame Report)

"The win streak is not significant at all...we got to be getting better", commented Coach Carlisle as the Mavs try to extend their league best win streak to 12-0. Tonight will not be as easy as Thursday against the New Jersey Nets. This will be the Mavs second game against the Jazz in 10 days; beating them on the road the first time. Carlisle expressed how hard it has been for his team to win back-to-back games against winning teams; i.e. Denver and New Orleans as teams they lost to the second time.
The longest tenured coach in the NBA Jerry Sloan is no dummy. When Royce asked him what will the Jazz have to do to win this game he simply said, "make shots". Even Coach Carlisle said that they have to be ready for Deron Williams and guard him without fouling. Deron, the pride of the Colony, comes back home averaging a double-double with 22pts and 10 assists. His style of play could really hurt the Mavs if he gets the bigs in foul trouble early.
Will the Jazz be able to do what 11 teams have failed to do the last 11 games, beat the Mavs? They definitely have the talent and the coach. Its gonna be up to the Mavs to hold serve.
