2014 Allstate Sugar Bowl Preview: Alabama vs Oklahoma

A big matchup between two of the most storied college football programs in history. The Alabama Crimson Tide (11-1) will face the Oklahoma Sooners (10-2) in the legendary Allstate Sugar Bowl. Nick Saban versus Bob Stoops is enough electricity to power the city of New Orleans. They last met in 2004 in the city for the national title.
Tide rolls over Notre Dame to win BCS Championship 42-14
It is designed to leave the best for last, but the Fighting Irish of Notre Dame did not seem to be in the same weight class with Alabama. The Crimson Tide scored early and often putting up a 28-0 shut out in the first half. They went on to win 42-14.
Everyone that picked Notre Dame to win, including myself, felt it would be a low scoring contest due the Irish defense led by Manti Te'o. The most decorated linebacker in recent history looked more like a bull fighter than a brick wall as the ESPN broadcast made sure to highlight is missed tackles.
The Alabama offense, led by quarterback A.J. McCarron with running backs Eddie Lacy and T.J. Yeldon, had a total of 529 yards; 265 rushing and 264 passing. Talk about a balance attack.
The Irish offense could not overcome the Tidal Wave defense of Alabama rushing for only 32 total yards. 20 of those yards coming from one long run by Riddick.
This makes Alabama, under Nick Saban, a 3-time BCS Champion in only 4 years. Nick Saban also earns a reported $310,000 bonus on top of his $5.3 million dollar salary for the appearance and win.
