2016 AFC Championship Preview: Denver Broncos vs New England Patriots

Peyton Manning and the Denver Broncos will host Tom Brady and the New England Patriots for AFC Championship.

2016 AFC Championship Game

By: Da`Vince “Dino” Wright

Denver Broncos 12-4 AFC WestNew England Patriots 12-4 AFC East

Date: Sunday, January 24th
Time: 3 p.m.
Place: Sports Authority Field @ Mile High Stadium Denver
TV: CBS

Why you shouldn`t watch this game:

The pastor of your church asked you to visit a church for fellowship. And the service starts at 3 p.m.

Why you should watch this game:

We had “Spygate”, “Deflategate” and now we want to see how the Patriots will cheat on Sunday.
Let`s call it “Mountaingate”

Will this Peyton Manning`s last stand? Will Brock Osweiler come in if he begins throwing interceptions? These are the questions that lingers in the heads of Bronco faithfuls.
Will Tom Brady be “Tom Terrific” or will the Broncos defense disrupt his flow? The quarterbacks will be the keys to victory.

New England Patriots

Six AFC Championships and winning 4 Super Bowls is Tom terrific? Everyone in New England says he is. Tom Brady is the undisputed leader of the team but has the fire to keep proving everybody wrong. When the Patriots lost to the Broncos earlier this year no one in the Northern part of the country question his heart, drive or spirit. He came back firing on all cylinders. The New England Patriots will always find a way to win.

Denver Broncos

Denver has led the NFL in every defensive category across the board. The defensive line has recorded 17 sacks combined and linebackers added 11. Talib Aqib and Chris Harris, Jr. are the “Air Thieves” so throwing on these guys will be a problem by itself. Stopping the run and clogging the A gaps will be the Broncos game plan. We can talk about the quarterbacks all day, but defense wins championships. This defense was mentioned as the second coming of the “85 Bears”, now that`s a great compliment.

My Prediction

The Broncos will beat the Patriots by 6 points. Bookies and Las Vegas is giving the Patriots 3, but they`re dead wrong in this case. Once again I hate to say I told you so...

Game Plan: Dallas Cowboys vs New England Patriots (How They Can Win)

Dallas Cowboys vs New England Patriots
Sunday, October 11, 3:25 PN CST on CBS
AT&T Stadium, Arlington, Texas

Offense:

The one weakness of the Pats is their defense. They are currently ranked 20th in the NFL, giving up an average of 368.7 yards per game. Also an average of 5.9 yards per play.

The Cowboys will have to do what they have not done since inserting Brandon Weeden as quarterback...open up the offense. You may not have your best offensive threats (Dez Bryant and Lance Dunbar), but what other shot do you have to beat this team.

Malcolm Butler will be missing from the secondary, so throwing the ball deep should be the best option to soften the front-line of the Pats defense.

Even with a back-up, the Cowboys have the 8th best offense in the NFL. That is better than any of the three teams the Pats have faced all season.

Defense:

The return of Greg Hardy will be all the talk leading up to this game. Don't think for a second that Tom Brady is not aware of his comments about his wife!

But the only way to beat Tom Brady has always been to beat him up...mentally and physically. He has only been sacked six times this season. No matter if Hardy gets in the back-field, he will draw enough attention to allow everyone else to tee-off on rushing the passer. Rob Marinelli needs to dial-up his best blitz packages. Let Hardy get in Tom's ear while he is putting him on the ground.

This will leave the secondary in mostly man coverage most of the game. They real threat will be passing underneath the coverage to slot WRs and mismatches with Rob Gronkowski. Nobody can guard Gronk, so don't look for some player to step-up. Getting to Brady needs to be the sole focus.

Special Teams:

Time to put your best guys back there to return both punts and kick-offs. Go for 2-point conversions on every touchdown...everything is a go!

Bottom Line:

The Cowboys don't have a good chance to beat the Pats straight-up. Head coach Jason Garrett will have to get out of his structured comfort zone to take an extreme amount of risks.

Prediction:

Cowboys 10 Patriots 38

Fun Facts:

  • Tom Brady is 3-0 against the Dallas Cowboys
  • This will be the New England Patriots first trip to Cowboys Stadium

We all saw it, but didn’t see it coming. Early in the second quarter, little 5-9 180 pound receiver crushed New England’s big, physical corner. Wes Welker came off his route, lowered his shoulder, and whacked New England’s Aqib Talib. Talib injured his knee, and had to sit out the rest of Sunday’s game.

Peyton wasn’t gonna let this game slip away from him. Denver dominated every aspect of the game. Brady led his offense to just 3 points in the quarters. No Mile High Meltdowns here.

Blount Runs Pats Past The Colts

In a cold and rainy day in Foxborough, the patriots relied on the run game to power pass Indianapolis. The final was 43-22. The Pats LeGarrette Blount ran for 166 yards and an amazing 4 touchdown runs. The second most in post-season history. He did this all on 24 carries.

During Monday Night Football we got to see Panthers receiver Steve Smith and Patriots corner Aqib Talib go head to head. This match-up was chippy the whole night.

Smith had 4 catches for a total of 62 yards.

Smith and Talib had multiple run ins during the game, seemed like they were very close to throwing hands on a few plays.

NFL: Big Trouble in Patriotland

by J.T.
Can Tom Brady and Bill Belichick get a handle on things?
If you know me, I take little digs here and there on the Pats but in this post I'll not going to be bias because what has happened in the last few weeks were out of their control. So, Patriot Nation I'm giving you a G pass this time, just this time, count this as an aberration.

When the off season began one position besides quarterback that everyone and their momma thought was stable was tight end. Who could blame every one for their assumptions? The statement, "Nothing is guaranteed" couldn't be more true in context of this situation.

NFL: Tim Tebow - The Media Darling

by Chad Jones

Commissioner Roger Goodell announced future NFL Drafts will take place in May, a move aimed at extending the offseason through the lull period that invariably emerges after the drafts conclusion. The NFL once was a September-February business, covering half the calendar year. Efforts to make the NFL a year round business have paid extraordinary dividends.

Even casual fans are drawn into the annual NFL draft, which was moved to Primetime to accommodate TV audiences. The NFL Combine has lure, with fans talking 40 times & hot QB prospects around the water cooler. The merger of sports & entertainment was inevitable, but under Commissioner Goodell it's catalyzed significantly.

NFL: Tebow Right Fit In New England

by Rodney Fisher
Tim Tebow will be joining the New England Patriots this upcoming NFL season as the third string quarterback on the roster. This move as been rumored since Tebow was released from the New York Jets, but with the official announcement today, this seems like the right fit for both.

The end of the Tom Brady Era?

There comes a point in every great quarterbacks career that his franchise makes a difficult decision to part ways. The 49ers had to part ways with Joe Montana. The Packers had to sever ties with Brett Farve and even the Colts had to release Peyton Manning in start a new quarterback era. History has shown us that this was not a voluntary move on the quarterback's behalf. Let's face it. Many quarterbacks don't know when to retire and many teams ride with them too long.

History has also shown us that teams that stand by their convictions and trade

NFL Weekend Recap: AFC and NFC Championship is set

After a NFL weekend for the ages, the conference championships are set for next weekend. Fans get an AFC rematch from last year and a NFC team gets another shot.

Falcons 30 Seahawks 28
The Atlanta Falcons and Matt Ryan finally exercise their playoff demons by defeating the hottest team in the NFC, the Seattle Seahawks in heart attack fashion. The jumped out to an early dominate lead over Seattle 20-0 at halftime. Russell Wilson finally got the offense going in the third quarter connecting with Golden Tate for a 29 yard touchdown. After the third quarter, the Seahawks went on a 21 point run to take the lead for the first time with only  :31 seconds left in the game. With the weight of Atlanta on his shoulders, Matt Ryan lead a 2 play scoring drive with the help of Roddy White and Tony Gonzales capped with a 49 yard field goal from Matt Bryant.

Coach Smith said in his post game comments, "Our quarterback is a special player. They call him Matty Ice, but I feel like we've got two Matty Ices. There's Matty Ice Ryan and Matty Ice Bryant."

This Falcon win was not easy, but again beating Seattle is easy at all. They played their way into the number one spot in the NFC and today they earned. This is Matt Ryan first playoff win in 4 attempts.

49ers 45 Packers 31
Reigning NFL MVP Aaron Rodgers could not match newcomer Colin Kaepernick. The 49ers made a quarterback change after Alex Smith, the QB that took the 49ers to the NFC Championship last year, suffered a concussion. This was the game that it all made since.

"I didn't know how fast he was. Coming in I never really paid attention to it. But he is fast", says Green Bay Packer Charles Woodson.

Kaepernick rushed for 181 yards breaking a postseason NFL record for quarterbacks set twice ironically by Michael Vick when he played with the Atlanta Falcons. In his first playoff game, he ran for 2 touchdowns and threw for 2 touchdowns.

Colin Kaepernick's comments after the win, "Our receivers  our tight ends, blocked great outside, and our running backs were running hard, so it made it easier on me."

Ravens 38 Broncos 35
It took 2 overtime periods to decide a winner in a NFL battle that will be apart of two Hall of Fame career summaries, Ray Lewis and Peyton Manning. The story of this game starts with what is now being called the "Flacco Fling" as Joe Flacco hit Jacoby Jones for a 70 yard touchdown on 3rd and 30 with :31 seconds left to play.

"At that point you have to start taking shots." said Flacco. "You have to get a little lucky."

New York Jets vs. New England Patriots - Recap - January 16, 2011 - ESPN

Mark Sanchez and the trash-talking Jets go to Foxboro and beat the Patriots. Tom Brady and Coach Belichek both looked out-of-sync during the game. Belichek spent a lot of time arguing with the coaching staff. Brady spent most of the day on the sideline warming up his arm while the Jets continued to put up points. We will recap all the NFL Playoff games on Tuesday's show...
