The logjam at the outfield position for the Dodgers has been very much debated and noted throughout this season so far. One of those outfielders fighting for a permanent spot out in the outfield, Matt Kemp, made some waves recently with not what he directly said but what his agent, former major leaguer Dave Stewart, said to Fox Sports baseball insider Ken Rosenthal about his client’s desire to return to centerfield.

Clayton Kershaw’s career has so far been spectacular in almost every way manageable. From his sparking W-L record of 84-48 to his remarkable career E.R.A of 2.60. He also has had great success in his postseason starts as well but outside of winning a World series, there was only one other thing missing from his resume: a no hitter. Well, that box got checked off last night as he tossed his first no hitter of his career vs the Rockies last night at Chavez Ravine.

Josh Beckett nearly a year ago was in a battle to even keep his career going. In July of last year, he was suffering a nerve condition that was effecting  his right arm, which in turn was wreaking havoc with his pitching performances. Beckett went 0-5 with a 5.19 ERA in eight games he started last season, a low point in his career. The pain got to the point that he had no feeling in his fingertips and had to have a rib be removed through  thoracic outlet syndrome surgery. Questions about his career and ability to come back from such a surgery were mounting by the day. Through all the pain and questions, Beckett began his road to recovery.

MLB: The Biggest Surprises Of The 2013 Season So Far

Are the Yankees the biggest surprise of 2013? Photo credit MLB

The Success of the Yankees and the Red Sox

Before the 2013 season began many experts predicted a tough season ahead for the New York Yankees. Who could blame them? A series of injuries left a depleted Yankees squad without stars, but as the first stage of the season has proved, lack of stars doesn't necessarily equal lack of quality.
