Another big night in the NBA and another late night of writing...But hey, it could be worse.

The Nerve of New York

As LeBron James put it himself, this was supposed to be one of the biggest moments in sports history. A scary thought for the bright eyed youngsters that make up the roster. The "Welcome Home" party for the Cavaliers was truly fit for a king. You had music, a jester, and herds of loyal subjects. Only one problem, you forgot about the gritty nerve of New Yorkers, namely the Knicks, that were supposed to lay down but simply did not want to comply.

After getting beat by 24 points in their home opener, the Knicks figured out one of the core principles of the Triangle Offense, passing the ball. Thirty of thirty-seven made shots were assists. Just think about that for a second. A team with Carmelo Anthony, J.R. Smith, and Iman Shumpert had more assists than the Cavs. I know a lot of the focus is on the LeBron losing, but the Knicks put on a dominate performance. They shot 53.6% from the field, 50% from three, and out rebounded the Cavs 35 to 33.

These Are The Breaks

In only the second game of the young season, already missing Kevin Durant to fractured foot, and the OKC Thunder's best player Russell Westbrook fractures his hand after only 8 minutes. This team is starting to feel like they are just destined to not get a championship together. Their three best players have only been together for one playoff run. As I've stated before fractures are lingering injuries, so there are no promises that either one could return 100%.

All that said, they nearly beat the Los Angeles Clippers on the road. Rookie Paul Jones' 32 points was just as surprising as watching JJ Redick going 2 for 17.

Ice Ice Baby

We had a Vanilla Ice sighting in Minnesota. After Vanilla Ice electrified the crowd during half time of the Wolves vs Pistons game, Minnesota held a 19 point lead in the third quarter. Although Wiggins did not play the entire fourth quarter, they escaped with a win proving that there is always a place for 90's rap.

Are the Mavs the Best Offensive Team in the NBA?
