It has been said that Durant has been having some discomfort in his foot recently saying so in the OKC Thunders latest practice. The foot injury has been known as a Jones Fracture. He will undergo surgery and will miss the first 6-8 weeks for the Thunder.

While Durant is out, look for Westbrook to lead the Helm for the Thunder. Losing the MVP for a few weeks will be tough for the team but OKC are one of the the most talented teams in the NBA and could possibly be fine without him for the first 6-8 weeks.
But on the other hand things could also be a little stale for OKC while he is gone. They could have difficulty generating offense because Durant is not there.
It has also been clear that OKC will be without Reggie Jackson as well because of a hand injury a player who could have also helped with the offensive load while Durant is out. Players such as Perry Jones, Anthony Marrow, and Jeremy Lamb will have to step-up in KD's absence.
Last year the injury bug hit OKC, as a result, seeing Westbrook missing a lot of time last year. Kevin Durant carried his team in the absence of Westbrook, which ultimately lead to him winning the MVP and scoring title last year.
Now for the beginning of the season we will be able to see if Westbrook can possibly go on an early MVP run without Durant being there.
This is certainly sad news for OKC, and it remains to be seen how OKC will fair without Durant for the first 6-8 weeks.
