Rangers Offseason: Young Targets Health, Seager & Jung Surgery Talk

Image
Arlington, the season’s over — now Chris Young just drew the offseason blueprint in big red letters. At Monday’s end-of-year presser at Globe Life Field, the Rangers president of baseball ops said the club must address “health, reliability, dependability.” Texas logged 34 injured-list stints in 2026, tied for most in the AL West. Corey Seager and Wyatt Langford started together just 76 times. Josh Jung missed 47 games on a lingering calf before a late hand fracture. Jack Leiter and Nathan Eovaldi each lost significant starts. Young also confirmed Seager (elbow bone spur) and Jung (hand fracture) are potential surgery candidates, with courses of action still being sorted. Danny Jansen may need a small hand procedure; Jacob deGrom’s prescription is rest. Young wants the roster younger, more athletic, and tougher on the road — and he emphatically said this is a reshuffle, not a rebuild, after an 80-82 finish and a third straight miss of October. Mavs Camp: Kyrie Unrestricted as May Builds Toward Macao

Image
Mavs Nation, the ball is bouncing again — and Kyrie Irving is not easing in. After media day remarks that he’s under no physical restrictions following the left ACL tear that cost him roughly 19 months, Irving has been a full participant through the early Dusty May practices. Coach May said availability Day 2 looked basically the same as Day 1, with the staff still managing limited minutes for Santi Aldama (knee recovery) and keeping an eye on other maintenance pieces. This is the Masai Ujiri–Dusty May reboot after last year’s 26-56 slog. Cooper Flagg and Irving are already being framed as the offensive pairing to watch, and May is preaching “mastery shots” — using what guys do best instead of spreadsheet purity. The renovated practice facility is open; the vibes are workmanlike. Listen up, Dallas — the Rio hangover just got worse. Cowboys co-owner/COO Stephen Jones told 105.3 The Fan on Monday that starting safety Jalen Thompson is looking at four-plus weeks after a hamstring injury suffered in the Week 3 loss to Baltimore. Jones also linked P.J. Locke to a similar multi-week absence, while saying the club is “very hopeful” Malik Hooker has a shot this week. That secondary that was supposed to be a strength? It’s next-man-up city right now. Jones noted Dallas kept six safeties on the 53-man roster for a reason — and they’re needing every one of them. Depth pieces like Markquese Bell, Alijah Clark, and company will get the call as Christian Parker’s defense tries to find an identity with bodies dropping. Jonathan Bullard (calf) and Shavon Revel (knee) are still being evaluated after Rio. Next up for the Dallas Cowboys (https://rfsportsradio.blogspot.com/search/label/Dallas%20Cowboys): a short week into Sunday, Oct. 4 at the Houston Texans. Schottenheimer alr...
