The Broncos will look to a familiar face to interview for their head coach vacancy.

Denver, according to Adam Schefter of ESPN, will request permission to interview Ravens offensive coordinator Gary Kubiak for their head coaching vacancy.

This is a very interesting situation in many ways for both parties. Kubiak has already said that he is content in Baltimore and wants to return to the franchise for next season in his current role.

Kubiak even went to the trouble of putting out an official statement about his desire to stay with the Ravens for next season, something he did not do without considering all the news about head coach openings in the NFL.

It was also reported through ESPN sources that his stance on coming back to Baltimore did not change with the news of the Broncos cleaning house with the Fox coaching staff. Now we know minds can change in an instant when new situations or news arises but this would be an awkward situation for Kubiak to put himself in should he take the Broncos on this opportunity to interview.

This even despite the history he has with the Broncos spending nine seasons as a backup quarterback and eleven seasons as a coach for Mike Shanahan. He would be going against his word, ones that everyone in the league and media read when it was released.

Kubiak is known for being a loyal guy and standing by what he says and it would surprise me at this stage that he would take a shot at a head coaching job and have to shift back into moving his family, getting a staff together, meeting and getting to know the players etc.

He is in a great position in Baltimore, has terrific support and resources with the Ravens, the personnel he is provided with also is one of the best in the league. Kubiak could easily win a Super Bowl with the staff and players he is currently surround by in the Ravens in these next few years.

Plus, he does not have to worry about having all the responsibilities and pressure that a head coaching job has. He is free to focus just on his offensive schemes and game plans for his unit and how to better improve their execution and play.

Being a head coach can have its rewards but Kubiak is currently in a position that looks to be more rewarding long term in Baltimore than if he took a gamble on the Broncos.
