After a record breaking season, a fifth MVP, and a trip to the Super Bowl, Peyton Manning could be walking out of the game. As we saw on Sunday, Manning couldn't get the job done in the 48th Super Bowl. The leagues’ best defense held one of the best offenses of all time to only eight points. To me that sounds pretty embarrassing, but to Peyton Manning, not so much.
"It's not embarrassing at all. I would never use that word," Manning said. "There's a lot of professional football players in that locker room that put in a lot of work into being here, playing in that game. ... That word embarrassing is an insulting word to tell you the truth.”
Now we have to wonder what’s next for one of the game’s best QBs. After seeing what he did this year, it looks like he has another two or three years left in the tank. on the other end, he has accomplished nearly everything a player can in the NFL.
When Peyton was asked about his future he was pretty agitated, but said he planned to be back in the offseason. Hopefully he speaks the truth and that wasn't a heat of the moment saying. I would love to watch this legend play again. I can’t imagine him leaving the game after a showing like last Sunday.
In the end, Peyton Manning goes down as the best quarterback to ever play, and his legacy will stand tall even after a horrendous game. I can’t wait to see what he can do next season, as we say goodbye to football for seven months.
