Johan Santana is drawing many big clubs as he attempts to revive and restart his major league career.

Teams such as the Yankees, Blue Jays and Padres are among the reported six teams looking at him to potentially take a flyer on for their rotation for the upcoming season.Everyone is in the market for adding a starter that could seal the back of their starting rotation and that pitcher being Santana would be a bad option at all.
Now he is not the pitcher who threw the no hitter for the Mets or the one that was so consistent and dominant with his days in Minneapolis playing for the Twins but he is a guy who can be a positive and productive addition to any team that wants him.
Santana made his first start in the Venezuelan winter league last Tuesday and will do so again Thursday. These starts will be invaluable to him as he continues his steady climb back to the major leagues.
The innings and ability to go up and throw against live hitters will help Santana refine his overall game and see what works and what he needs to work on and tighten up. He still possesses quite the repertoire of pitches that can be thrown for strikes.
The comeback trial for the former Cy Young award winner has been one with many speed bumps. He suffered a torn Achilles tendon this past June. He has not pitched in the major leagues since he was with the Mets in 2012. Santana did sign with the Orioles last season but unfortunately injury got in the way once again. He missed last season as he had to once again deal with injury troubles.
For all the troubles he has had to deal with, Santana has that inner strength to battle and continue on. A man as determined to get back to the sport and league he gave so much to and wants to give back to and continue in is a special individual that any team would lucky to have on their team.
It is unknown what he could give to one of these clubs but anything he gives to a team will be a great addition and make the pitching staff that much better off.
