Bryce Petty unquestionably threw his name back into the Heisman race with his sparkling performance today. He threw for 510 yards and six touchdowns as he led Baylor back from what looked like an insurmountable lead for the Horned Frogs.
He completes the comeback when he threw a 25 yard touchdown pass to Corey Coleman with 4:42 left in the forth quarter that tied the game at 58. The Bears had little trouble going through a TCU defense that coming into today's game was highly regarded for its sound fundamentals and ability to make bug time plays late in the game as they did in their last win over Oklahoma.
TCU had a big decision to make as they were at the Baylor 45 yard line with 1:17 left. It was a tough choice, you either punt the ball back to Petty and a white hot Bears offense or you try and convert the forth down play and try to set up a situation where you either win it on a field goal or go to overtime.
Head coach Gary Patterson decided to go for it and a fade pass went awry from TCU quarterback Trevone Boykin and Baylor got the ball back with a pretty short field to work with. They would then go down the field methodically and set up a chip shot field goal, which was nailed by Callahan.
