McCann's Three Run HR Seals Sweep Of White Sox for the Yankees

Despite Yankees closer David Robertson blowing a 9th inning save, Brian McCann walloped a 3 run shot just inside of the right field pole off Jake Petricka (0-3) giving New York a 7-4 win and series sweep over the Chicago White Sox.

Chicago wasted no time taking the lead as Alexei Ramirez smacked a leadoff blast into the first row of left field seats that gave the White Sox an early 1-0 lead.
The Yankees had an opportunity to tie the game up in the 2nd inning after a Chase Headley leadoff double but was stranded as Francisco Cervelli and Zealous struck out to end the inning.
The White Sox built a 3-0 margin in the 6th inning as Conor Gillaspie launched a two run home run into the right field seats.
New York responded in their own half of the sixth. A miscue by White Sox left fielder Dayan Viciedo on a fly ball hit by Martin Prado allowed Prado to reach second. Next stepped up Mark Teixeira who hammered a ground ball past a diving Gillaspie bringing in Prado to make the score 3-1 Chicago.
Back to back walks to Beltran and Cervelli loaded up the bases. Wheeler was hit by a pitch from Chicago starter Chris Sale forcing in Teixeira for the Yankees second run of the game. Ichiro Suzuki delivered a line drive single into right field giving New York a 4-3 lead.
This was the  first time Sale had given up an RBI to a left handed hitter since August 17th, 2003 (Joe Mauer).
New York held a 4-3 lead heading into the top of the 9th inning but Avisail Garcia belted an opposite field homer into the right field seats tying the game up at 4-4.It was Robertson’s first blown save since June.
In the bottom half of inning the Yankees had an opportunity to win the game with runners on first and second with one out but Derek Jeter grounded into an inning ending double play.
Carlos Beltran opened up the 10th inning with double into the left center field gap followed by an intentional walk issued to Chase Headley that set up McCann’s game winning three run home run.
David Huff (3-1) who entered the game in the 10th inning picked up the victory in relief.
The Yankees have scored five plus runs in back to back games. Fourteen of New York’s last  18 games have been of the come from behind fashion. They are 28-16 in day games.
New York travels to Kansas City on Monday to makeup a game that was rained out on June 9th before moving on to Detroit and Toronto.
