Box Score NEW ORLEANS -- Ladarius Tabb scored 22 points and grabbed nine rebounds and Jacob Perry hit a game-winning layup at the buzzer to give Alabama A&M a 68-67 overtime win over Tulane in the season opener on Friday night.
Just two field goals and five total points were scored in the overtime period. Louis Dabney made a layup with 4:00 left for Tulane's only basket, which gave the Green Wave a 67-65 lead. A Nicholas West free throw for the Bulldogs cut their deficit to one with 2:27 remaining, setting up Perry's heroics on the final possession. West scored 20 points and added eight boards for Alabama A&M, who shot just 39.1 percent from the field but held Tulane to 38.6 percent and forced 19 Green Wave turnovers.
The Bulldogs were stingy on defense only allowing the Green Wave to shoot 27 percent from the field in the first half while forcing a total on 19 turnovers for the game. Tulane closed the game going 0 of 4 from the field with three turnovers. |
